this'll be better if 6022 will be available
6021 with 850/1800/1900
Or 6021b or however Nokia wants to label it.. This looks like the idea business user's phone, nice and midrange with bluetooth and EDGE, but no camera so it's safe for the workplace!

So...T-mobile is using the 800/850 band, or is it just for world coverage?
I think it's more for roaming locally, off of other GSM providers.

I have the MPX220, used it for about 1 month now, and have been all over the internet, installed many apps, watched tv, upgrade media player, watched a dvd, have 3 pop accounts attached and have had not one problem with it. The windows is working pretty much flawless so far???
A lot of people immediately associate the problems of the desktop OS with the mobile versions... In my experience mobile versions of windows are very stable with ...
Re: Interesting design
Heh, when the backlight is on the screen IS black.. They turn off at the same time.
Just FYI.
Re: I think this will do well!
That's actually a very good question.. The 800 band is going to be nearly useless on this thing ;p
Re: Bluetooth still crippled
I doubt the bluetooth is any more crippled than the 7290 and 7100 series... It's not crippled so much as the support for it was not added. As far as I know the hardware itself doesn't support anything beyond headsets and car kits, unlike the v710 which has the ability and was disabled on purpose.
RIM Updates
RIM makes it incredibly easy to update the firmware on their handsets, I think every high end phone should be user-updateable via USB (or some other cable)!
Re: U.G.L.Y
And I'll bet you anything the Motorola 171 will sell like crazy too. If it's got a "FREE" tag on it, it will sell, and probably well.

What is your deal??? Why are you so chipper abouta company ripping off hard working american people? You must be a bleeding heart liberal. Your statement just proves how uneducated Verizon subscribers are. They are not "world class" There phones suck, and here in Olando,FL their service sucks too. In case you aven't noticed, the "world class" people are infatuated with things. Expensive, nicelooking things with all the bells and whistles. The "world cLass person" would ...

What about this phone versus the Motorola MPx?
Any thoughts?
From what I hear about the MPx, it has VERY limited memory and is basically useless for any serious applications. So 9300 > MPx, at least for now (unless Motorola releases an updated version of the MPx).
Re: U.G.L.Y
I'd say it's really unique.. it's certainly different from the other clamshells out there.
I'm going to withhold a real opinion until I actually get to use one.

But then you have to be a part of Sprint PCS, no way. I've already cancelled my Nextel account and so has my employer. We used to have Sprint and will never touch or give one cent to that terrible company again. Bad move Nextel. If you were happy with Nextel's current service then that was a huge blunder on your employer's part. It'll be two years before you'll see any changes.
No kidding. I see this all ...
Re: USA???
Knowing the way things go when Telus gets it first, probably not.
Lack of American GSM support
I'm rather disappointed to see so little in the way of GSM 850 here - especially when it comes to the D710. Too bad Series 60 isn't bigger in the USA, I'd love more choice when it comes time to upgrade my Nokia 3620.

Wow, those keys do look pretty small... but it seems there's a fair bit of space between them so that may just make up for it.
RE: Memory
I have a 256 MB PQI I got off ebay for about the same price.
Works perfectly in my 3620.
Re: The Most Retarded Thing I've Ever Seen...
I don't know.. I love the idea and I love the styling - this thing (if it ever comes out) is going to be one hell of a Smartphone.
I worried about battery life, though. I guess we'll see.

Or perhaps they're simply updating their respective websites?
Well as any web developer (front-end or back-end) would tell you (and any business person should agree) you upgrade beforehand, not once you merger. It's very easy to build something out that you can switch to or to add more servers to production for the additional hits.
They got exactly what they wanted which is a ton of traffic but by not being able to handle it is losing ...
Cingular and AWS sites are gettin' hit HARD
You can barely view any rate plan or phone information on either site, you get an error half the time.
It's cool that everybody wants to tranfer to Cingular (it's going as Cingular planned), but obviously they didn't plan for this kind of traffic.
Same old, same old.
Re: Any information??
Yeah, that external display is TINY, looks like just enough room for a 10 digit number (if that). I love the styling though.

you can dial by teo ways voice or using that spinning wheel thing that they got...more interested on how the wheel is gonna work, than the voice activated dialing.
That's what I'm wondering too. In my head I'm thinking it will be somewhat similar to the spinning wheel control on some AOC monitors, but that's all I have to draw on.

:o a 850 band!
Seriously people, just cuz it says 850 doesn't mean Cingular is a guarantee.
True, but looking at T-mobile's track record in phones it's VERY unlikely they'd sell an 850/1800/1900 world phone as they have a 1900Mhz only network. And as there's really no way Cingular would sell a 900/1800/1900 world phone (half useless on their network) we've all become accustomed to assuming who gets what these days.
Common sense, no?
Oh, sweet bluetooth.
Everything GSM these days is coming with Bluetooth, it's like heaven!
Nice looking phone.

Actually LG has a very accurate and fast voice dialing system, so its not inconcevable that Nokia might have a similar system as well.
That may be true, but there are so many situations where having voice dial as the sole input device (a spinning wheel, c'mon!) may be a pain in the ass... Situations like a quiet classroom, on the subway where it's really loud - what does Nokia have planned for this?
Still, a very interesting design. I'd ...
Nokia's midrange phones are getting beefy
At least in the feature list. It would be really really nice to see a decently sized screen on their midrange line, though.
I like this thing, looks like a 3220 killer.
Re: External Caller ID
They seem to be a fan of function over form - which honestly I don't really mind. Sure, it's boring... but it's getting to that point where it's starting to look retro
When will we start seeing devices with this?
And exactly how fast is three times current rates?
Re: 1,000th News Item on Phone Scoop!
Cheers indeed, you magnificent bastard.
Smartphone sales are rising and Nokia's being a good boy
By developing even more. Current stats show Smartphone sales raising by some %100-ish a year... More Series 60 and up devices means more awesome phones to choose from.
Good job, Nokia :D

Uh..Sprint did.... :)
And this leaves Verizon in a very nice position as the only big CDMA carrier to not screw Treo 650 customers over...
Though knowing them they'll just do as Sprint did and make everyone who wants a nice PDA/phone head over to the wonderful land of GSM.. ain't nothing wrong with that in my eyes!

Will Verizon cripple the Treo like they crippled the V710? Will the phone support OBEX?

Doubtful. The Treo is a full PDA, there's no way they would cripple something that critical on a platform like this.
Re: Sweet!
This thing is damn nice, everything I ever wanted in the Treo 600!
Re: I would love this...
If this is anything like the paypass (or whatever it's called) used by Esso then I don't believe it actually requires any electricity on your end to pass the information along.. Maybe I'm just an idiot.
Pricing?
Any idea on potential prices? It would be nice if this made SE lower their P9xx pricing a bit.
Re: Palm on Sub $250 phone
I agree - it would be nice to see a more affordable Palm based phone because like Symbian there's a lot of software available for it (and it's easy to develop more).
Re: Any Information???
With the features and GSM bands stated I figure this is definately a Cingular phone if anything.
