Re: Could this happen?
According to Financial Times, Alltel is the countries 5th largest carrier. Regional or not.
Verizon
Cingular
Sprint/Nextel
T-M obile
Alltel
Re: Could this happen?
Im not sure why you would suggest that Verizon might buy Alltel. Carriers use the same phones re-branded all the time. Plus, with Alltel having a network that is similiar, if not better than Verizon and plans that include more minutes, it seems Alltel is poised to grow very rapidly at this point.
Re: Hahahaha....
I don't know about GSM being so great. I understand there are a lot of people who enjoy it, use it, and swear by it, but I live in Arizona and all I know is Cingular voice drops out here like no other. I can't travel from one place to another and talk the whole way there. Its a guarantee that it will cut out. Any CDMA carrier (Verizon, Alltel, Sprint) works better than any GSM carrier, from my ...
Re: i have an 8200...
Im not sure what Sanyo's problems have been. They have made some of the most reliable phones in the past 5 years, but I don't know whats going on with them lately. Hopefully their merge with Nokia's CDMA dept will push them in a new direction...
Re: Apparently we don't need our eyes...
Good one.
Re: Power Vision not so powerful
Its priced at $80/mo. for pc cards, not for using it on the handset alone.
Still no bluetooth?
I don't understand why Sanyo keeps leaving this out of their phones. Anyone have an answer? I think that is definitely a disadvantage, imo.
Re: Whoopie :(
Dont forget the LG PM-325
Re: Booooooooooooooooooooooooring!
I'll concur with that. Sanyo is kinda losing the excitement it used to get from me when a phone came out. This one looks almost exactly like the 8200 and adds features that are pretty much standard across the board with Sprint Phones now. The 5600 is cool and all, but I am waiting for something new cosmetically as well.
Re: First Impressions
I just had a meeting with Kyocera for my company. This phone felt great to me. I'll admit it did have a little plastic feeling, but these phones are made to be simple. I have used kyoceras in the past. They are well performing phones. They do break here and there, but if you are worried about that, buy a Nextel phone. Still, it isn't have as "plasticky" of a feeling as the ...
Re: iPAQ with Bluetooth + this phone = reading email???
Well, Sprint has a data service called Vision. As long as you subscribe to that ($15) You should be able to connect BT from your IPAQ with just the phone itself. You should not need a modem.
Re: Uploading a pic will take years!
Maybe I'm thinking of EV-DV . . . Oh well, I suck.
Re: Uploading a pic will take years!
If I am not misunderstood, upload speed for EV-DO is 1.8 mbps, meaning it is ALOT faster than 1xRTT. 1.8 up and 3.1 down. Isn't that right?
Re: What about EV-DV?
Both 1xEV-DO and EV-DV are faster than EDGE. EDGE is estimated somewhere around 110-130 kilobits a second where EV-DO and EV-DV are 300-500 kbps.
What about EV-DV?
Why would you waste money on a protocol that takes away bandwidth from your voice services when there is one available that is fully retroactive and utilizes bandwidth for both data and voice?
Re: Change of heart
From what I understand, and I am not any kind of authority, but CDMA2000 1xRTT has been known as 3G for the past year at least. Not only by it's users, but by the wireless companies and the rest of the wireless world. Could be wrong.
Re: Everyone's getting a peice...
Is Sprint going to be able to use AT&T's existing GSM network?
Re: Yeah Right...
Where do you hear Sprint is in a financial bind. They seem more thriving now than ever.
