I'm about there...I have 4g in a smaaaall part CLOSE to where I work, but not actually WHERE I work. Lets not talk about Stockton, ca. Ubiquitel USED to be a test market. We were the first to get Vision, then "Power Vision" (EVDO/3G) then Wi-Max...and now? a HORRIBLE excuse for 3g, horrible voice and text, and LTE is no where in sight. The central valley was a big market for sprint, and they screwed us pretty well. I ...

I think the reason sprint needs clear is the same reason there are alot of networks that DON'T have LTE. The places where they WOULD put LTE, currently have Wi-MAX towers co-owned by clear. I think once they completely acquire clear, we'll see a HUGE jump in LTE markets. Just my .02

in the Article: Sprint Expands LTE to 22 More Cities forum

Considering big red already made their deal with the FCC (in exchange for phone records) to have the big markets first...Sacramento, Modesto, and Stockton were the first places in ca to have Wi-MAX, so the question is...why the wait now? These areas were INCREDIBLY popular when the first "4G" came about, why flake on us now?

Or Stockton...The only reason Napa needs LTE is for the Sprint cup race at Sonoma. Stockton is HISTORICALLY bad, and it's one of Sprints biggest markets. We were one of the first to have Wi-MAX, so why the delay with LTE?

in the Sprint forum

As a former proponent of sprint, I can tell you, I've tried sprint. I had them for 9 years. I've been happy, and most recently, INCREDIBLY disappointed. We had Wi-Max which used to be a great technology, until Sprint stopped throwing money into it, and went into LTE. I've sold sprint and worked as a service and repair technician. I've heard everything from everyone, and the bottom line is, 3g sucks. ATTs 3g was WAY faster than sprint, but ...

At this point, sprint is losing credibility by the second. If someone doesn't make a move, and sprint update it's archaic towers and get out of the basement as far as data speed is concerned, they might as well let sprint go dead in the water, because they won't be worth much as a Wireless company. Those who know me know I've had ALOT of sprint loyalty, but right now!? I'm about ready to jump ship.

I don't understand why HTC even has locked bootloaders? LG and Samsung haven't ran a locked bootloader, and things are juuuust fine. All developers, script kiddies, super users, etc... know that if you decide to flash a rom, you run the risk of damaging your device. I just hope that the brilliant minds in the community are able to circumvent HTCs locked bootloader.

ATT's Network has been in steady decline since they began to shut down the "EDGE" network. Granted, in places where you have GSM service, it's SUPER fast, but in all honesty, it's damn near impossible to get great signal unless you have an "X" ducttaped to that spot and you're standing there. Same goes for Sprint's WiMax (which they wanna dump for some reason, even though REAL network technicians think it's a MUCH better choice than LTE, but what ...

Problem is, there are some spots where you can only get good GSM reception, others where you can only get CDMA. I see this is cities all over california. Those people would like to have a choice as to where they can go, not just ATT. Also, the ability to unlock the phones and go overseas is a HUGE deal. You would only go to jail if you alter the esn number on the device (which is possible) the problem is the FCC has STRICT laws about esn numbers, and yes, if you somehow got caught, you'd go to jail. Most likely from the MAC address on the device, which you'd also have to spoof to avoid detection.

"4G" is a firmware issue, as far as GSM devices are concerned. The TRUE 4G companies, sprint, and verizon are at a bit of a disadvantage, because it's literally a different radio in their devices. With HSPDA+ They're simply opening up thier towers up for more through-put, and the correct modem firmware on both the samsung captivate and vibrant CAN PRODUCE 4G on devices that are only "3G capable" The reason android is so widely used, is the kernel. ...

Any galaxy s phone on a REAL carrier is in the 500-600 dollar range without contract. The fact that they're offering something even CLOSE for 179.99 is a freakin giveaway. I'm sorry that the poor metro customers don't get everything for nothing but, that's the way the cookie crumbles. If you want a GOOD phone, ante up and flash an epic or a fascinate, or go to a post paid carrier. :)
