Motorola webchat phone support? what a joke !!
So, i went to Motorola's website to see if i could lodge a complaint about the design flaws/software issues that i have experienced (as well as a few of you) with the Droid X. i logged on to the tech support web-chat application, and below is the transcript of the discussion. read my review for other issues like this... i suggest that you call UTSTAR (wrote the software for this unit) and tell them that you want this fixed in the software update slated for a May release!!
for now the answer is NO... you can't adjust it.

it's just like regular cell phone keypad entry... you have to "cycle" through three letters and a number then choose... this unit is NOT suited for intensive data entry at the device... it is great for syncing to outlook (in winxp, no support for Vista yet) via a P.C. where you enter your appointments/contacts/memos etc.. it's streghth is as a device to have all such info at your fingertips if needed.

the answer is no....you should contact UTSTAR, PANTECH, and verizon tech support to ask them to include the ability to adjust the front screen timeout in the firmware/software update that UTSTAR is coming out with in may.

hey there...
it works with xp and "active sync", but i can not get The unit to be recognized in "sync center" which is the new version of "active sync" that is part of VISTA. so the answer is No until UTSTAR (company that wrote the software for the pantech pn-820) supplies the driver/software support for vista. I'm pissed about this!!
