Gmail Integration
I am considering moving to an iPhone from Android, and I'm wondering how well it works with Gmail. Is it as good as Android? In particular, I love the way that contacts and calendar work with with my Android phone - I update/add a contact or calendar item from my phone, it immediately updates Gmail online, and the same goes for the other way around. Can the iPhone do this as well?

I am trying to decide between these 2 phones myself. I just want a phone that's solid and reliable, and just works with few issues or lags. Call quality and basic ability to function are all I care about. I have the Incredible 1 now so was thinking of sticking with HTC, but not sure.

I have been an Android user for the past couple of years, and I use Gmail heavily. I love how the contact list and calendar are sync'd between Gmail and my phone and updates to either one update the other immediately. I'm just curious if there are any "solid" rumors about what's in the pipes for new phones coming out. I have the original Incredible, and I love it. The size is perfect for me. The only issue is the battery life. I considered upgrading to the Incredible 2, but don't know if it's enough of an upgrade over what I have. Not true, unfortunately. I contacted Verizon about this. They told me that as long as you make no changes to your plan, you keep unlimited data. But as soon as you make any changes, including buying a new phone (which extends your contract), you are forced to go into the tiered plan. I posted my email exchange with Verizon in the comments to the article that Phonescoop posted.
Confirmed by VZW employee - if you upgrade your phone, you lose unlimited data
I received a response from VZW. They even got the dates wrong - I have been a customer since the spring of 2004 and have not changed carriers once during that time. Idiots.

I sent customer service an email about this, telling them exactly how unhappy I am about this. They responded in a pretty detailed email, and one of the comments was:
"Keep in mind that the changes that are coming in the near future about Tier data plans will not affect you unless you add a new line to your wireless account. "

Thanks for the great review. I've been considering this phone. I have the Incredible 1. I'm curious to see how the 2 compares to the 1 in terms of battery life. I love my Incredible 1, but the battery life is terrible. That's my one and only gripe with the phone.

I have only ever gotten one-year contracts. I've never had a phone last two years, and these days even if it did, with the way technology is moving, any phone I get will be obsolete in a few months and I'll want a new one in a year anyway. I am using the Droid with my Windows Live POP 3 account, and I am also using TouchDown for my work Exchange account. On both of these, I have noticed that when an email gets deleted from the server, it also gets deleted from my Droid. Is there any way to change this? Just a couple of hours ago, I went to look at my email accounts on my phone (I have a Windows Live POP3 account and my work email, which is ActiveSync), and they had randomly disappeared. Hmm...the first quarter is almost over. I wonder when they're planning to release this? I have read about bugs that people have experienced when manually upgrading to the newest version, so I'd like to wait. It would be nice to know what will be fixed with the new version.

I have my personal and work email going to my Blackberry. They have 2 separate folders/icons, which is great, and in my profiles I can set them up differently so that I get the blinking red light when I have new personal email but no reminder when I have new work email - this is also great.
