UTStarcom PPC-6700 / XV-6700 / HTC Apache

Inconveniences that I hope there's a fix for. Anyone got any ideas? Or at least experience the same issues, so that I know its just not a defect on my phone.

1. Can't do phone & WiFi at the same time. Whenever I enable WiFi, the phone is automatically switched to "flight mode" (and vice-versa). Is there any way to do phone & wifi at the same time?

2. Caps-lock for the 'red-dot button'? Whenever entering a sequence of numbers on the keypad, I have to do 'red-dot -> number'. Is there a caps-lock function for that button?

3. When taking a picture on the camera, the image on the screen freezes for about one second, then takes a picture. This is confusing because once the screen image freezes, you think the picture has been taken....

I've had this phone for about 2 months now. It started off with full specs in terms of battery life: 4 hours use on the phone, with 8 days of standy time. I was amazed that I'd use this phone regularly and only need to charge it once or twice per week.

The last 2 weeks though, things changed. I had bought a 1GB miniSD, and installed TCPMP media player. Suddenly I couldn't get through a day without finding the device COMPLETELY dead. This is true if I don't make or receive a call, or use the thing at all(a few days of forgetting the phone at home)! So I "erased" the flash, which reset the entire flash ROM, deleted contacts, etc. I would presume this blows away the registry as well.

I haven't installed any new software yet, but...

I hope i don't sound like a dummy for asking this, but oh well: did Verizon neuter the bluetooth capabilities on the VX6700 or is it naturally that way?

i just purchased the xv-6700 2 days agobut then the q just came out. i called vzw and they told me that i can exchange within 15 days of the original purchase. I am attracted to the Q by its looks but some say that the features are short of other pda's.

PLEASE GIVE ME SOME KNOWLEDGEABLE INSIGHT INTO WHICH PHONE IS BETTER!!

I love the VX670, but not so much Verizon. I wanna know if there's really a different between the VX6700 and the PPC6700 (sprint's version, for those that don't know).

Anyone find a way to record calls on this puppy ? I have tried running the VOICE RECORDER - no luck...

With the treo 650, it was a pain in the --- to send video messages. Is it easier with the 6700?

I know the same question has been asked before but I wanted to ask if people could post a link to the site where they bought the current case they are using (as long as they like it)

I'm getting ready to buy the case and was curious if the perfect combination of features had been created yet.

Hi All:

First time poster here wondering if anyone knows what model and when it will arrive to succeed this smartphone. It has been out for quite some time and maybe the next verison will be slightly slimmer and lose the external antenna.

I am currently using a Moto Q and would not mind going back to full fledged Windows Mobile, but the 6700 is getting a little long in the tooth.

Does anyone have any ideas as to this subject? Links or pictures would be greatly appreciated. VZW has really been on a tear as far as releasing new and fairly exciting phones. I am hopeful they will keep it up going forward.

I've completely had enough of the Treo 650 and am getting a 6700 tomorrow. If anyone has been in the same position, please let me know if there's anything that i need to know about the 6700, good or bad.

Im a teenager who works a ton and needs a phone to do email from and also connect to AIM to keep in contact with my friends.

I also dont want to shell out the money for the unlimited data plan for verizon so is this phone worth buying to keep me from having to shell out the cash or is it to much of a hassle to use?

Just looking for opinions not trying to start at anrguement just need some advice.

I need to delete a bogus email account that was created under my messaging folders. I currently have the unit synched with 2 real accounts and a 3rd account which is not valid. There doesn't seem to be an option to delete an entire account - only add new and manage folders. Any help would be appreciated.

Is the Motorola H350 bluetooth compatible with the xv6700?

Anyone know of a software (or hack) that will enable backing up your SMS messages ? I tried SMS Cool and it will pull up my Contact list, but not my messages. It does not error out either - just tries to retrieve the messages and comes up with nothing 🤨

With the xv6700, can you talk on the phone as surf the web at the same time as you can do with the treo 750? 😉

I'm probably missing something simple here, I've gotten a few classic arcade style games via freeware downloads, my personal favorite site is pdagold.com.

But here's the thing, two of them are just one single .exe file. I can store it in my documents, I've even put it in the games dir, with my other toys, but they don't appear when I use the "programs" feature, I'm only able to access and play them by navigating to them with the file explorer.

Minor issue yes, but annoying...

I was reading an overall review of the 6700 on mobileburn.com and am curious about the camera functionality. I don't care for my current camera because as you frame a shot (ex: little niece doing something silly) you push the button and it may snap the picture in about 1 second (...one thousand one...) or almost 3 seconds if the camera decides it needs to set off its "disco" flash to properly illuminate. Regardless, the kid has moved by then.

What type of delay do you see after pressing the button?

I think I previously read that the flash just lights up all the time on this phone. Is that the case and/or does the flash delay the camera's shutter additional time?

It looks like there is also a sports mode or something to that e...
