Able to sync with something besides outlook?

I do not use MS Outlook and it seems like I am not able to sync with any other email client (at least none that I know of). I know you can with gmail and yahoo, but does anyone know if you can with a standalone email client such at Thunderbird?

Downloading apps; what OS?

I've found a couple messages on downloads that won't run on the 6700, but nothing on OSs. So, when downloading apps, what Operating System should I choose (Since Windows Mobile 5.0 is never an option)?

what file type should I download?
PocketPC
PocketPC 2003
ARM, XSCALE, MIPS, SH3

Adobe Reader had these two options:
Pocket PC 2002
or Windows Mobile 2003 with update 2

Now If I could just figure out how to turn the darn thing off (no, the power button just puts it in standby mode). Will taking the battery out when it reaches standby mode cause any harm?

Internet and Storage Space!

I hope this is not a ridiculous question, but I just purchased the 6700, (coming from the VX 9800...a.k.a. the V), and WOW, there is soooo much to learn. Thank you all for asking and sharing so much information...

anyhoo...If you download Minimo or Opera, should you "delete" internet explorer. I'm having a hard time with memory on the 6700. it keeps on saying my memory is "critically low." I have a MiniSD (512MB), but I'm still figuring out how to save and store info on the card.

any info you could provide would be helpful! Thanks everyone!

Outlook E-Mail problems...

Okay, so I've had my 6700 for around a year now. I know how to do and/or use just about everything out there. However, I still don't understand the Outlook E-Mail. When I try to E-Mail someone from that it says "From: (Outlook E-Mail)
To: -Whoever I Put In-

When I hit send it just goes back to it's main page, and nothing is sent. I can't receive anything either.

I'd really like to have e-mail on my 6700 due to work + going back to school.

Any help would be appreciated.

XV-6700 OEM Case

Hey,

I am looking for a few of the black vinyl pouches that come with the phone. If you would be willing to give or sell me yours in new condition please contact me. I have tried calling Verizon customer service and have checked with stores in my area and no one seems to know how I can get one.

Thanks!

Alternate MMS Portal

Is there another portal where I can send or receive MMS messages on my xv6700?

I was hoping to avoid using verizons altogether if I could.

1 hour time differential between pocket pc and contact management system??

I sync my pocketpc with a contact management system but lately my appointments are syncing with a one hour time difference.

For example, an appointment I enter on my desktop computer for 2-3pm transfers to my pocketpc and displays as 3-4pm. The reverse holds true if I enter an appt. in the pocketpc sync it to my desktop.
The wierd thing is that if I sync the device again the appointment would remain at 2-3pm on the desktop and 3-4pm on the handheld

Any tips?

I've already performed a hard-reset and reloaded all the appointments but no luck, the problem persists.
I've even checked out the daylight savings time adjustment that microsoft has as a download.

Sprint version (PPC-6700)

Hey, i am currently looking to buy this phone off ebay, and i'm finding more available in the sprint version rather then the verizon version, which is the carrier i'm with. I was wondering if a sprint version of this phone would work on verizon's network if i bought it unlocked. Please reply....

Other Internet Browsers

I am about to buy one of these, and was wondering if there are other browsers to use besides IE. Is there a version of Firefox that will work on PDAs?

WMP 11 Is Now Taking 4 Hours To COnvert and Sync Video...?!

Okay, so I've been putting movies on my 6700 since the day I got it. It's always worked fine with WMP11 or whatever... All of a sudden, it doesn't show my phone in the 'Device' picture anymore. It's reading the storage card, though...

Anyway, it's always taken about an hour to synce a 2-hour movie to my 6700. For the last week (since it started showing a differant pic for my device) when I try to sync a movie I'll start it, and when I get back like 2 hours later, it will only be like 30% done. Also, it doesn't even show the sync process the way it used to.

Anyone have any ideas. I mean, I bought this phone just so that I could watch movies on it!

WMP11 Is No Longer Reading My Device...

When I first started putting video files on my device I used WMP 11. It worked perfectly. All of a sudden WMP 11 won't even read my device anymore. It's like nothing's there at all. WMP 9 sort of works, but if I copy a WIDESCREEN video file to my device it converts as FULLSCREEN and ends up looking like crap.

Any Ideas??

Batt life, FTP usage, SD card from digital camera compatibility

I will be hiking the Continental Divide Trail for six months this summer, and am looking for the best way to type journals, take pictures, and upload them to my website via FTP (WiFi) when I get into towns every several days (using the Verizon data plan looks kinda expensive). Do I need to download additional software to FTP text and JPGs to my site?
What is the battery life like if I'm not using the phone or wifi (I'll do it in towns, and can hopefully charge the batt at a grocery or restaurant)?
Can I use it right out of the box, or do I need to activate it thru Veriz (will they let me if I buy it on Ebay?)?
Can I get an external keyboard that doesn't take batteries (plugs right into the USB)?
what happens if I keep it on until the bat...

For the people that use the aim on their ppc6700, Is it true that you can only use aim with wifi or can you also use it with sprint's ev-do network? Thanks
