LG VX-8100

How have LGs been with relability and with small drops(physically like to the ground) and heavy use etc? this phone looks promising the samsung a970 scares me with that flip screen! I'm torn between the 2 i think...how about the LG that can be ptt but isnt the 4650 i think?

i would really love a nice new samsung flip phone such as the e720 or e730 but im not sure if they are coming to the US!

Greetings. Although I have lurked here ever since the snippet on the LG 8100 appeared in Popular Science, this is my first post.
Sad as this is for me to admit, I am drooling over the 8100. But after reading through the posts, I am about to give up hope that Verizon ever will carry it! The phone that first made me want a new one is the Nokia 6255. But after my son (a Cingular subscriber 🤭 only because Verizon has weak service in the area in which he attends school) bought an LG, I started considering one myself. Then came and PS article, and . . . .
Anyway, someone on eBay is offering an unlocked 6255 that supposedly will work for Verizon.

i was very interested in this phone. I have a Samsung E-715 for Tmobile but Tmobiles reception has gotten too poor for me recently. I was also looking at the Samsung E720 & E730 which arent released in the US or set US Carrier! I wasn't sure of LG since i've fallen in love with Samsung, i wanted a little more than the Samsung A670 offers and am unsure about the Samsung A890..im looking to use the phone for txting,normal call usage,pics and would like mp3's/mp3 ring tones!

any reccomendations???

Got to try both 8100 and 815 together. The palce I stayed had poor verizon signal strength, 815 had atleast 2-3 bars where as 8100 had none to one.Don't know if the retail version of 8100 would have any better signal strength. Sure 8100 has a better camera. Does any one concur with me?

I just check and the E815 is in the comming soon section here in Northern Cali. But when you highlight it all it says is "The soon to be launched Motorola E815!" Nothing on the 8100 ☹️.

Thought I'd mention.....

I just saw an EV-DO commercial for verizon wireless on tv. I can't remember who said this, but they said that we would see a slew of EVDO commercials right before the release of the vx8100. Everything seems to be lining up for the release of the phone next Monday...June 27.

I'm willing to place bets....I just have a feeling about it.

I just called my local VZW store (central PA) and asked them about the release date for the 8100, and the lady said "I never heard of that model sir, you must mean the 8000."

I then went on to inform her of all the sites like this one and even the manual for the phone being online. She still stood by her statement adding that it 'may be in testing right now.' I was not well...

Funny, I was just thinking about how "on edge" everyone is and how anticipated the release of this phone is and how frustrated everyone is getting (I, myself, can't wait for this phone to finally come out!).

So, you know what it's going to be like when this phone is released? It's going to be like a person who hasn't had any in awhile finally getting some! 🤭 Think about it - all the frustration and then when it finally happens - think of all the happiness... 😁

...just a thought...

just saw 8100 rebate forms at my local verizon store, tuesday is when they update the employee website about soon to be released phones so next tuesday may be the day when we get some more info

Hey, so I have a decision to make...a few days ago I renewed my two year contract and got the Samsung a670. It's not that it's a bad phone, but i'm finding that I really prefer LG phones to this (i had the VX4400 previously). Anyway, i'm hoping the 8100 comes out within the next 11 days, or even the 5200, since they both say 2nd quarter of 05 (and June is the last month of the second quarter). So my problem is this. Should I go for the 8000 or the 6100? I like the camera and speaker phone options, and all the extra features of the 8000 sound pretty sweet, only it's pretty large.

Also, I had a little accident with my 4400 about two months ago and it completely died. To get a replacement, it was $50 and they sent me the 4500 because the 440...

I've heard there's a new model of Samsung comming out shortly thats supposed to be better than the 8100. Can anyone tell me what the differences are or what this new samsung model is?

Does anyone have any credible info on what the actuall date of release is? I have heard these two dates and dont know which one to believe.

To all those people waiting for this phone to come out, I hate to say this but you will be greatly disappointed. I have had this phone now for about a month. Altho the phone is alot better then the 8000 which I had for a very long time. It has some features that I do not like. Keypad is very small and the speakers on the flip get in the way of the soft keys.
The MiniSD card I am having trouble with, I can not get it to play MP3' If anyone can help here it would be a great help. Speaker phone is loud but I have a feeling it will have many issues like the 4500 with it blowing. Mine is starting to go. The blue-tooth is good but like the 710 its restricted. When you hold the play button on the outside it doesn't bring up your play list like the...

Hello! I managed to find some info on the VX8100 at work:

The UPC code (I think that's the bar code) on the box for the VX8100 will be 6-52810-812634.

The rebate is $50 and is valid from 6/20/05 to 8/28/05. The rebate must be postmarked by 9/17/05 and received by 10/3/05.

I'm not under contract--deciding btwn Cing & VZW. Both services have equally poor customer service based on my 2 month shopping experience. Bought/returned the 8000 in May after seeing this fourm, but getting tired of waiting (current phone is useless.) I don't need the perfect phone, but will keep it a long time so I want features I don't currently need but can learn to love, like Bluetooth. VZW probably better service but I don't want the v710. LGs are better, but no Bluetooth yet. Users liked Rzr except for the phonebook but thought too expensive. Is Rzr worthwhile @ $0? ($150 less $150 rebate on Amazon.) Any problems with ordering phones from Amazon or Amazon rebates? Any advice? 😕
