Cingular or T-Mobile

According to reports, an independent survey states Cingular has the most cell towers and dropped calls in the Northeast. Any comments? πŸ™„

MP3 Problems

I have searched and read but can't seem to find the solution to my problem playing MP3s. I have V.07 of the VX-8100. I formatted the SD card in the phone, then put it in my PCand dragged several MP3s into the MY_MUSIC folder. When I put the SD card back into the phone, the phone does not recognize that it had any MP3s (yes, they are definitely in MP3 format).

Further, I have attempted to enable the front Play buttons on the phone. I go into Tools>Shortcut Key, but there is no option to select "Play" as the instructions say. The options I have are for Messaging, REcent Calls, Contacts, Settings, Tools, Get Tunes and Tones, My PIX, Get Fun and Games and Get News and Info.

Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong?

T9 Editor Software

Hello -- New to the forum, but have been lurking for a while.

Ok, I'm looking for a T9 Editor program that you can use to easily manipulate the T9 dictionary on my LG 8100. I've found software for Smartphones, but it's for editing dictionary files ending in "udb" and not "dat." MST9Ed is such a program and has an easy interface that will list the words in the dictionary, and a button for Delete, with a field to enter new words into the file. The Hex Editor process for the t9udb_eng.dat file is horrid, and there are words in my phone's dictionary that my Hex editor program doesn't even find.

Has anyone run across any software that can be used with the 8100 that would make this easier?

Many thanks.

LG 8100 - Can I change my calendar wallpaper?

My friend has an LG 7000 (I believe...) and I was showing her my new phone and she had a calendar event pop up and I saw her pretty calendar background. She said it was some "spring" theme and it changes on its own every couple of months? I immediately went to look for that feature on mine and alas, found NO way to change the calendar background at ALL. I have some ugly mostly white background and since I'm planning to use the calendar feature a bunch I want to change it.

Does anyone know about this spring thing? Does the 8100 have it? It better - mine is supposed to be spiffier and newer than hers! If not, is there ANY way to change the calendar background. I've searched high and low in the manual and google and can't find out how.

Battery Life when Looking for Service

I recently was moved to an office at work where the building completely destroys VZW service. So from 9am-4pm everyday my phone switches from having no service to having zero bars a couple times a minute while I’m in the office. This makes my battery completely die around 4pm and forces my phone to shut off. Then, here’s the interesting part… When I leave the building, I turn my phone on and i get full service, and the battery meter on phone my phone slowy goes to like ¾ of a bar and the battery lasts the rest of the night.

Why does this happen?
Is there a way I can fix it?

MP3 on vx8100

I'm thinking about upgrading from my LG 5200 (nice and small, without many features) to the vx8100 (bigger, more features).

Do you think this is a good idea? Are the features worth the size?

Also, the guy at the Verizon store told me that I needed to buy software for $30 (Windows Media Player PRO?) to be able to get MP3's onto the card becuase of the copy protection. Is this true? I'd hate to spend the $ on the phone and then have to spend even more on software and the card before I can use it.

Thanks.

So. Anyone think there is going to be an upgrade V8, or do you think that this is where they will stop with this phone?

2GB Mini SD Card

So. To date, has anyone tried a 2GB card. Not that I would run out and buy one, but I would really like to know if there is the option. The more memory the better. 😁

Step-by-step: Putting your iTunes music on the VX-8100

Previously, some have asked whether iTunes music can work on the phone. I think it can!

1) Open iTunes
2) Import the file you want, if it's not already in the library
3) Go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing
4) On the "Import Using" tab, change it to WMA encoder, or MP3 encoder.
5) Right-click on the song(s) you want on your phone, and click "Convert selection to [WMA or mp3]" (The default is AAC.)
6) Once conversion is done, click and drag the song into Windows Media Player, or directly into the folder on the card.

Enjoy! The part about getting it into WMP worked for me, I have yet to put songs on the phone.
