FM Radio software?

I love my 5600! Ok, so now I'm looking to find a software program that might allow me to use the phone as an FM tuner also. The stereo headset is ok, but I bought a $3.99 adapter at Radio Shack which allows me to use a good pair of headphones to listen to mp3's etc. Does anyone know of a program designed for Windows mobile that allows for radio reception? That would be awesome! Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Latest from Cingular Rep

I spoke with my Cingular rep again today. He told me they expect to make this phone available for sale for current Cingular customers within 2 weeks (they have the phone in stock for AT&T customers.) He then asked the manager and she reiterated the same thing.

He also said that they anticipate a $50 rebate with a 2 year renewal.

Take that for what it's worth. I think I am going to wait until the EOY and hopefully take advantage of the rebate and avoide having to pay $35 for the unlock code.

My Review of phone

πŸ™‚

This phone is great.
.phone charges when syncing with USB cable
.Music player
.Contacts
.Voice activation
.Bluetooth works great
.speaker phone
I dont know why people have complained about the receiver. Not being able to hear because to me its very load. You just have to mess with the position of it.
.Cameras okay (I didnt purchase it for that)
.camcorder okay (I didnt purchase it for that)

My only complaint is the cell coverage/ antenna. My wife has the audiovox 4100 and she gets coverage when I do not. We both have ATT/ Cingular service. I dont know if it due to lack there of an antenna or not but its really flakey.

This phone would be perfect if it had a better antenna.

Audiovox SMT 5600 or the V3?

πŸ˜• I haven't had a cellphone since the late 90's, so every phone is cool to me. That said, I have the Audiovox SMT 5600 Smartphone and love the user interface/functions, but have anticipated the Razr.

Problem? I have gotten accustomed to the Windows Mobile interface and have heard that the V3 falls short by comparison. But the V3 is a quad band with a great speakerphone. I am so torn.

What will I lose by passing on a smartphone in favor of a V3, which one salesperson called "a regular phone in an attractive shell?" What would you do? I'm leaning toward waiting for the next generation of the Razr...even if that's a long time from now ☹️

Any feedback is appreciated.

SMT 5600 Coming to Cingular?

Just saw this note on engadget:

Seems like Cingular might offer the 5600 in the future. When? Who knows!

Use AT&T Version of Phone to Access the Web with Cingular?

I am told by Cingular that this phone will work fine with one of their plans (once it is unlocked) but you will not be able to use it on for the internet. Has anyone bought this phone without an AT&T plan, migrated to a Cingular plan and then successfully used it to surf the web? Are there particular settings that you need to enter into the phone to make it happen?

M-mode incompatiable with Cingular

Just got of the phone with a Cingular rep who said that the Audiovox SMT 5600 is programmed to be used with AT&T's M-mode for data, and that this would make it incompatible with the Cingular's data network. Hence you could unlock this phone and use it as a phone on Cingular, but you may have problems with data. I am taking this with a grain of salt because every time I speak with a new rep at Cingular I get a different answer.

Has anyone here unlocked this phone and started using this phone on Cingular? Have you encountered any data problems?

SMT5600 in Cingular stores now....except there's one catch

The newly converted ATT wireless to Cingular store (Redomnd,Wa) is still carrying this phone. Plus they are receiving a new shipment today. It's now $249 with a contract on the ATT wireless network only. When I asked if it would be availbe on the Cingular side, there was hesitation in all 3 of the reps and finally one of them said .. I think so. It's hard to believe Cingualr will discontinue such a successful smartphone.

If anyone has info on when this will be released to Cingular customers on a Cingular plan please post here.

international usage

admitedly, im sure this could be answered with some research on my own part (hey, i just realized that holding down the end key locks the keypad..), but given that this phone uses GSM 800, 1800 and 1900 frequencies, would it be usable (given the purchase of a pre-paid sim card there) in the UK and/or europe?

i see phones listed as 'quad band' and being touted as 'world phones' but am not sure about this phone. thanks

5600 RF performance

I have had a week now and been in a few spots that I know have a weak signal. I can talk on my V600 from the weak signal areas but when I try to use the 5600 it wont make a call at all. Thats a bummer for me because I frequent these areas. I am wondering is single phone problem(my phone) or with all of them?

MSN Messenger on Audiovox?

Ok stupid question, I am sure I am overlooking the obvious. My hotmail account has an "_" (underscore) in it and for the life of me I can't figure out how to add that when I am trying to log on to MSN Messenger. It doesn’t appear to be listed under the #1 key. Any ideas, I know it has to be there? πŸ˜•

5600 internet wap on Cingular now working !!!!

πŸ™‚ I finally just created a new entry instead of modifying the AWS GPRS entry. I don't see what the difference would be but any way it is now working .... This phone is great so far. I will test the RF a little further before I decide to keep it... More to come...

GPRS working on Cingular, but I keep loosing connectivity

5600 on Cingular status....

No internet yet....
The phone in some areas I travel has a hard time finding towers compared to my V600 while sitting side by side.
In the Network list it shows 310410, AT&T Wireless, & T-Mobile

I assume that the 310410 is Cingular? If I loose my 310410 network I can go in and change to AT&T and get signal again. I am wondering even though it is unlocked the AT&T branding and software loaded is taking first dibs....?

Cingular Acquisition

I've checked the Cingular site repeatedly, and called the local stores, and so far... The SMT-5600 is no longer available. Now the question boils down to...

What are they going to do with all the ones they couldn't sell yet???
