SMT5600 in Cingular stores now....except there's one catch

The newly converted ATT wireless to Cingular store (Redomnd,Wa) is still carrying this phone. Plus they are receiving a new shipment today. It's now $249 with a contract on the ATT wireless network only. When I asked if it would be availbe on the Cingular side, there was hesitation in all 3 of the reps and finally one of them said .. I think so. It's hard to believe Cingualr will discontinue such a successful smartphone.

If anyone has info on when this will be released to Cingular customers on a Cingular plan please post here.

So they're going to selectively block users of this phone from using the Cingular side of the network? I ask this because I've seen AT&T Wireless cell phones now roaming on Cingular with no problems. Data network and all.

Not block users, they won't sell it with a Cingular plan to a new customer. All cingular and att phones will work on the new combined network. I'm trying to get this phone on a family plan with my wife. She wants the LG L1400 or the Samsung e317. ATT won't allow a combined plan and it's pissing me off. I don't even want/need the mMode internet stuff. The quicker ATT disolves the better.

Does anybody have ANY idea how long it'll be before they start liquidating these beauties? I'll pickup three or four since they can't be ensured.

oh but thats the beautiful part, if you have an AWS plan w/ this phone they cannot force you to migrate if you lose your phone, especially if you have insurance.....pretty sure that was outlined on newcingular.com, or i read it elsewheres....but yes i cant wait for t3h liquidation, as a matter of fact i am going to the store today and check the price

I thought you couldn't insure these phones through LockLine? If you insured yours, how did you do it?

I bought 3 SMT5600s on the family plan in Vestal, NY at the ATT shop. I paid $149 for the first one and $199 each for the other two with a 1 year plan ($59/month with 1100 minutes + 9.99 per additional line).
