Around the World

Used to live in Venezuela for a LONG time but I don't remember which frequencies they used. It seems like around the Caracas area they had limited GSM and then for the remainder of the country it was primarily TDMA or CDMA (I can't remember at the moment). Anybody have any info??? Thanks.

I am thinking to purchase a GSM (tri-band or quad-band) phone mostly for domestic (US) use. But when I travel overseas once a while, I want to be able to get a local SIM card with lower calling rates. I was wondering if I can buy an unlocked GSM phone from a major US carries such as T-mobile or Cingula with their national plans -- something cost about $40/month. Or if they don't sell unlocked phones, can I purchase one elsewhere and sign up their plans? Anyone has tried that or have a better idea? 🙂

Can somebody give me any suggestions about getting prepaid Sim cards for Italy or England. I have looked at Virgin Mobile where you can call or receive calls to and from the US for 20p a minute with a 10 pound sterling for the card. That seems like a good deal yet I have heard there are on some companies that give you unlimited receiving calls for free. What about Italy? Is there a company that sells Sim cards for good rates for calling to the US. Ultimately I would like a card that can be rechargeable with an interface in English. I do not travel to Europe often so I do not want to be locked in a plan. Thanks in advance for the help.

From your experience; what older triband phone will work with Cingular in SoCalifornia and Europe? I'm thinking about Ericsson T39 or 520m. Are these phones compatible with Cingular network in SoCal?

i recently bought the SPV E200 but its still locked by orange. Can someone tell me what i must do to get it unlocked. Please explain is simple step.....sorry im a little ssssllllllllloooow lol

I am getting a new service sometime in the near future(by december) I am trying to figure out what phone to get. The camera on the mio 8380 is tempting, but ive heard things about it's unstability. Size is not a problem and the mp3 and VIDEO playback is what attracts me most. What do you guys think?

FE, a P900? or a T28 world? can i use these phones in any country with GSM coverage? or are there other issues?
