Text messaging problem w/ Cingular from Argentina?

I was a former ATT customer that migrated to Cingular. I was able to send and receive text messages with people in Argentina with no problem until I switched to Cingular. I have all the Cingular International options, but can't seem to solve this issue. I have no problem with domestic text messages. My contacts in Argentina are Personal suscribers, and since the switch I have not been to send or receive messages to these individuals.
Thanks
Rick

Unacceptable Voicemail option on VZW's Samsung Global a790 service??

I am in a spiral with Verizon Wireless and need to hear from someone who is an actual user of Samsung a790 Global Phone user....

When someone calls you in the USA, and they go into voicemail, do they hear an outgoing message in your own voice, or do they need to press your telephone number (again) before they hear your outgoing voice message?

Does it work this way outside the USA, too?

What I want to have happen is to have callers hear an outgoing voice message on my voicemail WITHOUT having to put my phone number in a second time.

Can you please reply?

many thansk, I am leaving for London tomorrow.

Best,
Robin 🙂

Car phones (really)

I had a request today for a mounted car phone and whether they still make them. I found a couple models on the Nokia UK website such as the 6090 and an explanation of how it has far superior reception than any handheld. However, it isn't avaiable in the states. Does anyone know what the options are for the traditional style mounted car phones in the USA?

Roaming in Baja Mexico ( Verizon Carrier)

Hi,

I am driving in Baja Mexico to Cabo San Lucas in a couple of weeks.

My current carrier is Verizon and when I have flown to Cabo in the past they couldn't get my phone to work down there. It was showing a strong signal connection on th ephone, but I would get a fast busy.

Verizon assured me it would work down there, but it did not. I found out later that they never hooked up the international dialing feature. Would that have done the trick, have any Verizon carriers been able to roam in CAbo San Lucas?

I drove before when I had an AT&T and the phone was working down the entire penisula near big largewr towns.

Any advise on Verizon if it will even work in Baja.

Also and advise on Mexico ( baja in particulalr ) towers ...

Unlock SPH i500

I am traveling to Europe in 3 weeks for a 2 week vacation. My carrier, Sprint, can activate my i500 to work overseas, but the $1.50 per minute airtime charge seems high. I heard I can 'unlock' my cell phone so I can insert a European carriers SIM card that would cost me dramatically less to use my cell phone. How do I go about unlocking my phone? Also, will the kiosks in Europe where I pick up a SIM card assist me with removing my current SIM and installing their SIM?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Steven

Unlocking a Motorola v66

Could someone direct me as to how I can unlock a v66. I purchased it from Tmobile and they can not give me the code until 3 months have passed. My daughter is going to London and I would like for her to be able to get a Sim card over there so the cost for calls will be less???

Change GSM frequencies?

I just discovered that it is possible to change GSM frequences on a tri-band phone. It is indeed possible to change network settings from say 900/1800 to 850/1900.

Curious about the limitations to these changes - which options are generally available and does this apply to all tri-band GSM phones?

Why, then, do they make different models for Europe/Asia/Australia and the US? Why not just switch settings?

Why is there a SE T630 and T637 - essentially the same phone but the latter is distributed in the States while the former is Europe/Asia/Australia. Why not just change the network settings?

I'd appreciate any clarification.

Need help deciding on a carrier to use while in Europe.

I'm going to be in Europe for roughly 3 months and was wonder which carrier has the best rates, coverages, and phones. Basically, over all, what is the best company. I've been looking for awhile now and so far the top two I've found seem to be Nextel and TMobile. I'm going to be living in London but I will be traveling a lot. I plan to spend some time in Ireland, Italy, France, Scotland, and Germany just to name of few, though I'm sure I will be traveling other places as well. I was just wondering what y'all could tell me. Any help would be appreciated.
