Hello, I'm looking for someone to transfer the guts of a Nokia 6236i into the body of a Nokia 2610 or similar new bar-style phone. I use Verizon Wireless, which doesn't offer Nokia bar phones anymore and has a UI I can't stand. If anyone can help, please let me know... bergerchristian at yahoo com. Thanks!

Sprint OpenWeb Update

Sprint OpenWeb Update

Published by Dennis March 18th, 2008 in Content Adaptation and Carriers.

I've found out a little more about the OpenWeb transcoder that US CDMA/EVDO provider Sprint is rolling out which I wrote about last week. If you missed that piece, Sprint has added a transcoder from OpenWave called OpenWeb to at least some of their WAP gateways. The stated purpose of OpenWeb is to transform full web pages that wouldn't be usable on handsets into something mobile friendly. The problem is that the OpenWeb software modifies the browser's http headers, removing some and adding others which breaks many off-portal content (ringtone, wallpaper, game) delivery services. OpenWeb also transcodes many mobile websites that don't need it...

Running with a SIM card

Hi,

We are looking for phones that offer to our customers for use with a robot that we are manufacturing. Our robot requires a Bluetooth controller and the first version of the controller program was written for Windows Mobile.

Some of our customers already have a WM device and can download the software and install it, but others have to buy a WM phone or PDA separately. We would like to buy a stock of new and used phones and/or PDAs that we can offer to our customers who don't already have them. Many of our customers will buy these phones from us solely to use with our robot and do not want to get phone service for the phone.
But one thing that we are finding difficult to discover is which phones will allow the user to do things...

Free mobile business/financial management software?

So I am going to be starting my own small business (probably start selling product via ebay store before I start my own website), just as a way to supplement my income. I'm generally a very disorganized person and was wondering if anybody knew of any free mobile software/apps that I might be able to use to organize my finances/stock. I have a Sprint HTC MoguL(PPC6800 w/windows mobile 6.0)

Thanks

Palm Centro on a diff carrier!

I was just wondering if sprints Palm Centro would work with a different carrier at all?
are they locked or anything like that ... well i know there's no such thing as locked in the CDMA world but ya know what I'm talkin about..

I'm with a local provider, so it's pretty common for their customer's to come in with alltel and verizon phones and say hey activate this as my phone and they're like okay no prob... so my question is... is it possible with a sprint phone?

I'm kind of interested in the Palm Centro. I don't need anything to flashy but I'd like a full keyboard with a little bit of extra functionality.

*** The local carrier runs on the CDMA network

Most widely used devices

I am looking for a list/database of the most widely used devices in the US by numbers of devices and market share. I have found lists on most "popular" and top sellers, but can't find a list as far as active users by device type, does anyone know where I can find this?

Moto Z8 iSync Plugin

Hi,

Hope someone can help me. I've seen various iSync plugins for phones, even the Z3, but never for the Z8. It's really annoying that I run a Mac but can't synchronise my Moto with it!!!

Is there anyone that knows if one exists? If not, could anyone develop one for me?

Many thanks,

Mike

When is it possible to have the same User Interface for all screensizes?

Hi all, i am final year student doing some research about User Interface Fragmentation on Mobile devices. As we already know, there are a huge variety of mobile screen sizes, and usually to provide users the best experience interfaces, we often have to customize the UI of one application in one phone to another. So i wondered when it is OK to have the same UI for all screen sizes?

Thanks.

New Directory of wap/mobile sites

Hi!

I'd like to invite everyone to try out a new wap site I created. This is a FREE directory of mobile sites- sites that are specifically made for browsing on a mobile phone. If you like to surf the internet on the mobile phone, this is one place to find all the mobile version for sites such as BBC, Ebay or Facebook for example. Try it out on
http://m.milkmore.com »
either directly from your phone or the PC.

If you have your own mobile site to add, just let me know!
Thanks!

ZLooking for advanced Sun Java phone.

I know this is random but... I play an online game called Runescape and it runs off of advanced Java Scripting. I also manage a Verizon Wireless store so I have allot of chances to try out the game on many different typs of phone. So far none of them can pull the game window up. Some get close but never can actually start the application. If anyone knows of a phone that you can get this working on let me know. Thanks!

Phone screen sizes

Can someone please compile me a list of all phones with the following size that run on MIDP 2.0?

1) 240x260
2) 320x240
3) 240x320

Also, if there are a large number of phones with sizes close to the three categories I've listed, could you point them out?

Thanks a lot!
Cheers,
Ian.

Cell phones with VOIP Ability

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I was curious about any updates.

Will we have the ability to make voip calls from our cell phones in the near future? This would be a great thing for consumers, but not for the cell companies. I've used voip phones before and they work really well.
