Nokia 6200 from cingular has some settings blocked out!!!!

the AT&T version of this phone, has "System Selection" a option to manuly search for service, or to place it on automatic..

anyway the cingular version does not have it, and I just spoke to NOKIA and was told that CINGULAR BLOCKED OUT THOSE SETTINGS

so does anybody know of a way to change that, and to be able to pick other carriers,

so far where I am, even in the OFFICIAL dead spots (cingular acknowledged it themselves) since its in and around a city, where cingular does have coverage, I am picking up 0-1 bar of service, and still does not search for another carrier (AT&T GSM has full service there)

from the way NOKIA put it, ("CINGULAR BLOCKED OUT THOSE SETTINGS OF SYSTEM SELECTION...") sounds like, this plan of free roaming i...

Unlocked Nokia 6200 - help troubleshoot

Hi,
need an advice on troubleshooting an unlocked Nokia 6200 (originally AT&T), got it on eBay. I am using Cingular SIM. With SIM card in, phone activates and finds Cingular network (Los Angeles area). However, when making or receiving call, there is no audio coming from either earpiece/loudspeaker/headset. People on the other end also do not hear anything.

The speaker is working, as FM radio mode works OK.

Please help to troupleshoot. Here is firmware info if it helps:

Advice on Creating a GPS Enabled Application

Hello, all.
As the subject says, I am trying to figure out how to create a GPS enabled application. I am looking for a handset that allows this that works with AT&T Wireless, or Sprint. I am not concerned with the programming language to be used, however; I do want it to use satellite GPS, so when someone is out of the Network, the application can still function correctly.

Speed, and relative accuracy of the GPS fix are not necessarily important.

Does anyone know of a handset that fits this bill?

Thanks
Lance

Nokia 6200 (from Cingular)

is there anyway to change the settings on the 6200 to get more service, or change networks,
b/c my phone only picks up Cingular, which has no service in the area (even though AT&T has GSM towers all over the area)

(on the at&t version of this phone, there is the option of "System Selection" (changing networks), but the cingular version does not have it)

so does anybody know any codes that could add to my reception, (like changing networks...)

WAP 2.0

Let's say that I have a single-band 800MHz 1xEV-DO CDMA phone that has WAP 2.0 and Java.

and lets say that the only carrier that I can activate it on in my area is VZW.

and lets also say that I have all the required information (IPs and stuff) that I need to get it activated.

what would be the best way to get this phone to connect to the data network?

I'm assuming that all I would need to do is get a network connection, ANY connection, because after that, its all just a basic connection which allows me to transmit and receive any data, just like the 1xRTT PC cards and the PDA phones. 1xEV-DO is backwards compatible with 1xRTT, so connecting shouldn't be a major issue.

The only thing I'm concerned about it whether or not ...

ERI

just wondering if anyone out there knew a way to disable the ERI on a motorola v60i from verizon wireless? i get asked that a lot (and i'm curious myself), so if anyone knows a trick i'd appreciate the help. i'm not worried about roaming or anything, so the ERI really has no benefit for me (that i'm aware of)

thanks.
