Question abou regular phones and using more than 5GB's of data. . .
My understanding of the 5GB data cap is that it only applies to "smartphones", and Laptop Connect. Am I correct?
My billing cycle closes at midnight tonight, I'm kinda nervous, I've gone quite a bit over 5GB's. But I keep thinking to myself maybe, just maybe I'll get lucky and
AT&T's billing system isn't setup to charge for over 5 gigs on "regular" phones. Only "smartphones" & usb dongles.
AT&T shutting off "2G"
I don't really know enough to understand the impact to, for example, GSM voice on 850 and 1900. Does anyone know which phones, if any, will be affected by this change (effective 1/1/17, but some changes going into effect sooner, according to some discussion)?

Upgrading from a Jurassic-era cell phone.
A recent move has gotten me a bit closer to stronger cellular reception (from "almost non-existent" to "weak to moderate") and it's enough to considering upgrading to something a bit more modern, as well as having the option of data access.
I've been reading/studying my options and talking with friends. If anyone would indulge me here, now I'd be interested to hear what total strangers have to say
