CDMA / GSM

There have been a lot of GSM phones coming out lately - seems to be less of CDMA ones. And GSM being what it is, the new phones usually have better and more capabilites. Setting aside the new v710 motorola, i dont see many potentially great phones that will compliment Verizon's CDMA cells.

And with Vodafone losing its bid on AT&T wireless, how long will it take Verizon Wireless to begin its steps to develop a GSM network of their own? Verizon is known for the quality of their calls in its CDMA network, but, will it ever make a move toward GSM?

Thanks for any replies.

Advertisment on the Lg 7000.

Not to get anyone hopes up but, today I saw 2 bill boards (while driving on the highways in Atlanta) advertising the LG VX7000. Unless theres a LG phone out that looks very similar to the 7000. I know for sure it was a LG. But the only thing is I didn't see anything saying Verizon Wireless. All I saw was an identical picture of a blue LG 7000 on a red bill board. I also saw the camera on the phone. On the billboard it also stated LG. So this could only mean that Verizon is coming out with the LG pretty soon. But I'm not totally sure if it was the 7000 because I didn't a really get a good glance at it. I would go back but the billboards are so far from my house. Have anyone else seen billboards advertising the LG7000? Thanks!

1X network in Iraq

My company is sending me & a couple of other guys out there. We need a reliable mobile Internet connection. I know there's a CDMA network in Iraq, but I need to know if my aircard will work. If not, I'll have to use my phone as a modem along with a connectivity kit, right?

questions

my friend is going to give me his old phone(one of the motorola v60's)he had his phone with at&t. would it be any problem for me to switch my service to this phone. And if i can because it was with a different service would i actually have to go into a store to get an esn change. and the last question would getting a esn change do anything to the contract because i have a free upgrade coming up soon. i just wanna use the phone inbetween then.

any info is appreciated

VZW's madness

I think I have figured out the method to VZW madness. See, they read this forum also,, and seeing all the comments about lack of phones etc. , they leak just enuf info. to whet peoples appetite.. Then when all the rumors about release dates, features, etc. they leak info about delays. Now people are really frustrated, and when the actual release happens, they have so many people beating their doors down just to get a new product. Of course this is all hypothetical, but it could be. LOL

What is coming next?

I have heard a rumor that Verizon is bringing out something new that may start as soon as this Friday. Has anyone heard any rumors about what they might be introducing?

AUDIOVOX CDM8900 vs. LGVX6000

Any opinions would be helpful... I like the 8900 but it just isnt loud enough. My g/f has the LG and hers is blasting I love it.. ring wise... but LG has no speakerphone I heard. I like the camera on both but the 8900 has a much crisp and clearer screen. I know the 8900 has 128 Flash memory which I dont know what the LG6000 has. Which phone has more memory for storing ringtones and pictures. I hear the 8900 has better reception... but then i hear the LG has better.. but more dropped calls. Just wondering if anyone can list some really really good things about each phone... and some really really really bad things about each phone.. its important.. i only have 10 days left to return the AUdiovox 8900. thanks

My lg vx 6000 is the only cell phone i've had, and it's all digital. I was wondering if i can specify to just use analog if i had a tri-mode phone from verizon with amps.

Verizon New Phone Timeline

Anyone here have insight into when Verizon's new phones will be introduced?

I am interested in the Motorola phones that will be coming out but don't know when they will be out. I am considering switching to a different carrier since I don't like any of the current Motorola phones. But I'd still like to stay loyal to Motorola.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Two lines on one phone

If I have 2 lines on one phone (one personal and one for work) will both lines recieve calls without specifically switching the phone to that line through the menu options?

Thanks

Decision on new phone

I'm lookin to buy a new phone during the summer but i can't decide between the kyocera koi, the lg vx8000 and the motorola v710. I like the koi plainly because of the large screen and swivel design (even though its not spring loaded). I'm looking foward to the lg mostly because of the ev-do support. The v710 has the nice t-flash memory (I don't care much for the bluetooth). Besides these things, is there anything else i should be considering? Their all tri mode and have many common features like mp3 playback, video recording, megapixel camera, etc. I know motorola's trying to get their good rep back and LG's phones are pretty good quality, but as for kyoceras, i dont know much about. Anyway, thanks for any responses.

V60s Problems

Ok, along with the standard problem of the phone not ringing/vibrating, now, I have a newer issue, I do not get any alerts to the external display, it will not even light up, just (if its working) ring/vibrate.

Also, I've been having problems with the phone just turning off, it happens even if the phone is plugged into the travel charger.

I'm not about to go through the same crap that I went through with the T720. VZW tells me that they test their phones before they put them on the market...well when do the Moto's get their testing?

I miss my Audiovox CDM-9500. 😢
