I think anyone who relies on one source for all their news is in trouble, whether it be MSNBC, CNN, Faux, etc. With that being said, I can say from my experience most people who watch Fox religiously posses a jaded view of the world. They see themselves as victim Christian Republicans fighting a holy war against progressives and Muslims. The actual channel does nothing to advance our collective society or encourage working with one another ...

I picked up a Q recently as well. It was ~$51 w/ tax - L.A. Woman and Sour Grapes (+ a free preroll). Sounds like the prices are about the same in each state.

Well you sound conditioned to reject it. For most people the fragrance of the flowers is enjoyable. Not only do they sell the actual plants, but also topical balms & lotions are sold at dispensaries.

Medicinal is taxed high already. $25 1/8th = $1.11 city tax, .43 state, .24 county. In Colorado you can grow your own plants if you have your card.

I'm sure you realize that any legalization of marijuana would have pages of laws related to it.

I think there's enough evidence that it can be legal, treated like alcohol, and cities won't degenerate into anarchy as some postulate it would.

Siri Stores Your Queries

https://www.aclunc.org/issues/technology/blog /note_to_self_siri_not_just_working_for_me,_w orking_full-time_for_apple,_too.shtml It came as a surprise to some folks at a recent SXSW talk that Apple’s Siri “personal assistant” isn’t just working for us, it’s working full-time for Apple too by sending lots of our personal voice and user info to Apple to stockpile in its databases. Take a peek at Siri’s privacy policy (which, by the way, is pretty difficult to find) and you’ll realize what’s happening behind the scenes. What info of yours is being collected and how is ...

There is a guarantee to practice free religion, again, it's in the constitution. Please, elaborate on the "Judeo-Christian" principles the country was founded on. This is a talking point straight from Bill-O, as the only people who use that type of phrase watch his show or read his written drivel. So, please, elaborate on the principles the country was founded upon that wouldn't have been the same as a secular foundation. It's incredibly naive to ...

This conversation is gone off the deep end. 1. You say the First Amendment is merely a throw in to allow states to freely practice religion, then go on to say progressive interpretation of the Constitution has lead to a new found belief that the U.S. should be free of a state endorsed religion. What the ? So, the First Amendment protects free practice of religion, but not the kind that modern progressives advocate. Is that what you're ...

Any civic building has an obligation to adhere to the Constitution, as it's the number one source of law in the land. It specifically states in Amendment I that there shall be no establishment of a state religion, nor impeding on the free practice of religion. If a courthouse, post office, or public school displays or promotes Christmas, a bible based holiday - it impedes against the free practice of religion and shows favoritism towards Jesus based ...

A good breakdown according to the r/atheism faq's on reddit. http://www.reddit.com/r/atheism/fa q Pascal's Wager "There's so much to gain if I believe in God, and nothing to lose if I do, so shouldn't I believe in God?" Blaise Pascal surmised that even though the existence of God cannot be determined through reason, a person should wager as though God exists, because living life accordingly has everything to gain, and nothing to lose. There are four states in his wager: * Living as if ...

If you're talking about market cap, you either have some idea of what we're discussing, or just regurgitating the news. I don't know which one it is though, because you're missing out on some big points. Particularly the 95% of revenue generated from ads by Google. (Their market cap is around $195B by the way). Google just spent $12.5B to purchase Motorola to put their phone OS into devices they manufacture themselves - but ...

Because there isn't a real alternative to facebook now, doesn't mean there won't be in the near future. When myspace was popular, there was foursquare and a couple other similar networking sites. Facebook sprung out of nowhere and swiped millions of myspace users. Facebook isn't immune from having the same thing happen to them, and the point I'm making is that they need to diversify.

Selling their users data for ads is only one form of generating revenue. Having extremely detailed info on targeted audiences for marketers is great, but it can only do so much. As a marketer, just because I pay facebook to slam an ad in your face because you like sushi, you're 25 years old, and are nearby doesn't guarantee A - you'll click the ad. B - you'll go to the restaurant. C - you'll ...

Meh, you are/were their investor, so if you believe that more power to you. They have addicts and power users, but I'd bet at least 25% of their 900 million users would leave shortly after charging for access. Think of 10 friends you know personally that use facebook, how many would pay to continue using it? For me, I'd imagine at least half of the 10 would say 'eff that I'm going to use twitter/substitute now.'

They're in a pickle because a large portion of their users are switching to using the mobile site or app - making ad revenue more difficult to generate. Charging people simply to access the site isn't going to work either. It would lead to a mass exodus of users to twitter, reddit, linkedin, google plus, etc. Their biggest problem is lack of diversity in their portfolio. Their acquisitions have all been to bolster the interface ...
