Don't get me wrong, I want them to succeed but come on - saying the iPhone will never catch on lol. They need some fresh blood and it has to come from the outside and not under the influence of Bassilie or the other guy Lazarides or whatever. It really is an instance of corporate inbreeding.

Their sales claim 500,000 were sold but that is the number of units that were delivered to retail outlets. No one really knows if even two of them sold.... :P RIM is in a death spiral and I have been a strong supporter of their products for years. I have a BOLD now but as soon as the iPhone 5 comes out - bye-bye Blackberry. 2 Bozo's at the top running it who refuse to see it or ...

My 1X is gone!
Apr 19, 2011, 10:40 PM
in the Verizon forum

My Blackberry Bold would, until recently behave normally and show 3G when I used data and would switch to 1X when I placed a voice call. In the past few weeks, I noticed that when on the phone for a voice call, the 3G indicator stays on and it never switches to 1X. Wife has a different phone and hers is doing the same thing. Anyone have any insight as to network changes that may have been made recently.

What you are asking makes perfect sense and I did it with an old LG 8700 phone that I had. The tricky part comes in when you have to FIND the setup menu that allows you to set it for 1X service only. Every time I did a *228 PRL (primary roaming List) update, it reset the phone and turned the EVDO back on and then I had to go back in and turn it off. So you need to ...

Yes with AT&T you can do that. If you use Wifi wherever possible it is: A) faster than any 3G network b) free The problem comes in when you try to force it to only use wifi. It should be the first order of preference but you can't shut the 3G signal off since you won't get voice calls then.

I ported my landline number to VZW. Prior to porting, the name and phone number appeared when I called people. At 12 noon on May 1st 2009 when the number ported, the name display disappeared immediately. Verizon does not support this feature. The had planned on doing it about 6 years ago and then they abruptly did an about face and decided not to offer subscriber info to the CNAM database.
