Yes, that was one of the reviews I read. As I said, what is the big deal? I can open the slider with one hand: I hold it in my left hand with my middle two fingers supporting the right edge, then easily push it open with my left thumb. It just seems such an odd comlaint given how easy it is to slide open. Gregg

Micro-USB chargers
Feb 13, 2012, 2:18 AM
in the Motorola Droid 4 forum

My Droid 4 came with a wall charger that has 5.1 volts and 850mAmp output via a micro-USB cable plugged into it. That cable can be removed and plugged into a computer to charge as well. I have a charger from my old HTC Touch Pro2 that has 5 volts and 1000mAmp output via a mini-USB cable that plugs into the charger. If I buy a micro-USB cable and plug that into the HTC charger, will it work with my Droid ...

I have seen several forums where people complain about the lack of spring assist, but I just don't get it. My Touch Pro2 had a spring-assisted slider, and my new Droid 4 does not, but it is super-easy to slide open and closed, and I do it with one hand. I don't see what is such a big deal.

A lot of speed test web sites use UDP data packets, unlike web sites that transfer mostly TCP packets. Throughput is higher with UDP than with TCP. However, ANYTHING has to be better than the slow-as-molasses 3G network we have now. It takes several minutes to load a simple page on my TouchPro2. Gregg

Android email client
May 24, 2011, 10:47 PM

Does anyone know when Android phones will have an email client like Outlook Mobile that can have nested email folders and look like Outlook does on a desktop? For example, in Outlook on my desktop/laptop/Exchange OWA, I have my Inbox, and under that I have a Clients folder with about 30 client folders under it, I also have a nested Vendors folder with 20 vendor folders in it, a Family folder with subfolders, and so on. Each main folder is ...

Not sure what you mean by "a devour to SMTP Authenticate." Check with Cox for their requirements. You should be able to use the same settings you would use with a laptop email account. Gregg

Does VZW provide outbound SMTP servers for non-VZW mail? If not, you'd probably have to use the same settings as if you were setting up an account on a laptop. I have found that Cox frequently requires "SMTP Authentication" and sending on port 587 instead of port 25. Gregg

AT&T does more for their customers? Bwaa, ha, ha, ha! That has to be one of the funniest things I have ever read. Yes, they do things like tell you that "if you drop calls in that area every day, you shouldn't use your phone" or "you should drive home a different way." They told my wife that the problem was because she was "near water" and signals didn't work well near water. Then we went to Tahiti and were ...

The last time I read a contract (five years ago when I moved to VZW from AT&SH*T), the fine print stated that they were NOT even obligated to provide service. They were only obligated to make a reasonable effort to do so. I don't remember the wording, but I remember joking with the rep about it because that was about what AT&Crap was doing...if even that. I knew VZW's reputation, so had no fear of not having a signal. Now ...

Speaking from when I was on AT&T, some people get tired of not having their cellular "provider" actually provide service, so they want out early. I finally got out of my AT&T contracts early because they failed to provide reasonable service in a major metropolitan area. It took a few letters to some high-up people, but we finally got out and are on Sprint and VZW. I have converted seven friends to VZW, four of whom got out early ...

Re: Poor voice quality with Moto T605 BT car kit and TP2 6.5
Feb 8, 2010, 10:19 PM
in the Verizon forum

The car kit is only a few months old and all wiring is good. I found a site that said to change a registry setting related to data rate. That helped a little bit. I have to test it with different volume settings to see if that has anything to do with it. It is sad that the XV6800 with Voice Command added to it actually works better than the TP2 with WinMo 6.5. Geez, as I typed the words "a ...

Poor voice quality with Moto T605 BT car kit and TP2 6.5
Feb 5, 2010, 8:14 PM
in the Verizon forum

Hello! I have a Motorola T605 Bluetooth car kit (Part #MOTBT605CK bought through VZW) in my 2002 Ford Explorer. It worked perfectly with my XV6800, but now that I have the Touch Pro2 with WinMo 6.5, I can hear callers perfectly but they say that I sound like I am under water. All callers say that I sound bad to them. How can I improve the TP2 voice quality over BT car kit connection so that callers hear me clearly? Thank you! Gregg

Best app to edit registry on TP2 WinMo 6.5?
Jan 28, 2010, 2:19 AM
in the Verizon forum

Hello! I want to get rid of the annoying SMS Message Sent popup and have read that it requires a registry edit. What is the best app to use for editing the registry? PHM Reg Edit is old, but is it still good for WinMo 6.5? Also, does anyone know how to turn off the "Bluetooth disconnected" message whenever the connection to my car kit is lost, i.e., every time I turn off the ignition and leave the truck? Gregg

Erase, erase, erase! Holy moley, I need more sleep. All I wanted was the basic black theme, and after removing that "Rock and Republic black" from programs, I was left with a basic blue theme...and could not remember where the heck to change themes. 12 beers later, I found it...under Today screen settings. Well, OK, I don't drink, but apparently, I need to start! Gregg Hill

I accidentally deleted the "Rock and Republic black" theme on my TP2 WinMo 6.5 phone and would like to get it back. I do see a "Rock and Republic black.tsk" under Windows on phone, but have no idea what to do with it. How do I reinstall a theme, short of reloading the ROM? Thank you! Gregg

Other users have complained of poor battery life after doing the 6.5 upgrade. I got my phone new about a week ago and immediately put 6.5 on it. Battery lasted about five hours after first full night charge, but lasts longer now, maybe eight hours, especially with auto-update of weather disabled. Gregg

OK, I officially like 6.5 on my new TP2. All of the problems I had with my XV6800 6.1 are gone, and the calendar "Agenda" view is AWESOME compared to the lousy Agenda view on the XV6800, which was basically worthless. Plus, the Sense UI is nice. We (finally!) have a lot of rain here in southern California, and I laughed out loud when I saw the wiper clean the "rain" off of the screen. Lightning is even more funny...it ...

I understand that. I asked for a link and so did you, but htat person hasn't coughed up one yet. I was agreeing with you, just reiterating that the "Email and Web for Smartphones" plan is not for connecting to an Exchange server. Gregg

If he is already seeing the code, then rendering it does not add any data size, but is just a matter of the email app showing what the code intended. The code is there and has been downloaded. Now if it had been sent in plain text rather than HTML, there would be a big difference. Gregg

I have read this thread, and it is quite clear that Menno was pointing out that one cannot get unlimited AT&T data for $10, unless, as you pointed out, it is bundled with another service. That does not mean that data is suddenly cheap at $10. Why not? I could take your argument that Navigator is $10 and data is $15, but the two bundled are $20, thereby making data $15 and Navigator $5, so data is still $15. It ...

On my new TP2, when I went to the VZW site, I found a downloadable "Email and Web for Smartphones" app. Just for fun, I installed it, and all it shows is various personal accounts such as Yahoo, Hotmail, etc. Now if I actually had only that plan, I don't know if the TP2's own mail setup would let me access my own Exchange server. All it requires is an unrestricted Internet connection to port 443 of a properly-configured Exchange server ...

If one wants to use Outlook with an actual Exchange account which uses ActiveSync (rather than IMAP or POP), it requires the higher rate plan. While not stated explicitly, I thought people here would understand what I meant. Of course, one could use IMAP, but I want ActiveSync of contacts, calendar, email, and tasks, and that requires the $$$ plan. And yes, I do have remote wipe set up. Gregg

I take that back. I just found an easier way to get to the Outlook folder view. I must be freakin' blind! Let me add that the honeycomb pattern of icons makes it look as though some kid flung a handful of icons onto the screen. I'm redaing the manual to find where I can re-arrange the icons. Gregg

in the HTC Touch Pro2 (CDMA) forum

I got my TP2 on VZW yesterday and installed 6.5 on it. I don't know why, but battery life is REALLY BAD. I have it check my Exchange server every five minutes rather than push mail in order to conserve power. My XV6800 lasts all day even when I make calls and have it connecting via BT to my car kit. This thing went from an overnight full charge removed at 10:00AM today to the low battery warning at 5:30PM, ...

What I find missing is any mention that the "unlimited data" plan at $29.99 is NOT for a smartphone when one needs to connect to an Exchange server. That plan is still $44.99. Gregg

I just found this link http://www.pcdphones.com/phone_downloads.aspx ?bid=128&cid=1&mid=356&carrier=Verizon that appears to be the WinMo 6.5 upgrade for VZW Touch Pro2. Is it really the offical release? I may have to run down to VZW and grab me a TP2! Gregg
