Discontinued?

A few weeks ago I noticed the Touch Pro2 was only like $79 after discounts, sold out quickly then disappeared.

For the last couple of weeks I've been checking the Verizon site daily to see if this phone would show back up on their website, but it hasn't.

My contract with AT&T ended today and I have my heart set on the Touch Pro2, but I'm unsure if it's gone for good or if I should wait on it to show back up.

sprint vs t-mobile

ok, so T-Mobile has be fuming. My old MDN, bless its heart, had broke recently. There may be the option of turning in my old smartphone for $100 credit . so that I can get $100 off of the retail price of the TP2 retailed at around $550.00. There is the option with my plan to buy it today at $190 plus $19 added to every month for 20 months. so that I will still pay the FULL RETAIL PRICE OF THE PHONE... with less than 1.5G coverage in data..

lets move to Sprint. I can open a new account and get the same phone CDMA for $599.99retail, $-100 mail in rebate, $-150 new customer two year service agreement. So that in all i pay $349.99 for the phone THATS more than $100 CHEAPER... and this includes the FULL 3g coverage data.

from my understand...

HTC ToucPro 2 still kicks a$$ even if the WinMo6.5 Update never comes.

The TouchFlo interface is pretty darn good, good enough that you really dont neeed to get under it to mess with windows too often.

If the update never comes the phone would still kick a lot of other phones butts simply due to all the things it can do.
Exchange email compatability. (Droid DOES NOT)
I mean the droid does technically get email.
But only email, contacts and calendar items.
It doesnt get subfolders if you have outlook rules running. Basically the Droid is a non business gmail phone.
The TouchPro2 is a business phone, for big boys, who actually need a phone to get work done.
AND still does all the cool geeky stuff to satisfy any desires a droid owner would want.

TV-Out
big keyboard
large super clear screen.
good bat...

battery life?

Can anyone tell me how good the battery life is on this phone? I currently have the LG Wave and will be upgrading to the HTC Touch Pro 2 in June when it's time to renew our contract and get new phones. The LG Wave has very poor battery life. I don't really do anything but text with it and the battery is almost dead by the end of my school day. So I'm looking for a phone that has really good battery power. I really like this phone and all the features have I really think it's the phone for me I just need to know how good the battery power is! Please let me know! Thank you!

Force landscape/widescreen?

Just got my TP1 replaced via insurance with a tp2. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to force widescreen viewing when using the sprint navigator without opening the phone's keyboard.

It looks a lot better in widescreen and you can see the street names in their entirety. If the G-sensor is supposed to do this automatically it's not and I recalibrated it.

Anyone know?

re: Call Waiting

I'm having trouble using Call Waiting on Sprint w/this phone. I get the second calls and can "swap " between them but let's say I want to drop one of the calls. There's no way to do that. I have tried it and if you press "end call" *both* calls drop. So I then just switched calls to talk w/the person I wanted to talk with and told the other person to hang up. Well the stupid phone kept the connection up on the party that hung up- it still showed a connection to that party on the call status screen. When I 'swapped' to it long after they had hung up, I got a dial tone from Sprint's switch. This is wack- I've never had a Sprint phone act like this. ☹️

Anyone else experience this?
Any suggestions?

TV out feature on HTC Touch Pro 2, does it work on the Verizon version of this phone

I know Verizon likes to disable stuff at their
will, and I know a cable exists that lets you
output you HTC TP2 over a video cable to your TV.

Has anyone got this to work on a TP2 on Verizon ?
Just wondering so I dont buy this and then find out they disabled it once I manage to find the cable.

Thanks all.

Verizon TP2 WinMo 6.5 Excessive Battery Drain

Hi All:

I just upgraded my Verizon TP2 to WInMo 6.5, using the new official Verizon ROM. The upgrade went fine, and I like most of the improvements. HOWEVER, I am experiencing serious and excessive battery drain on my unit. My power usage is nowhere as near low as it was with WinMo 6.1.

I have turned off auto-weather update, turned off the HTC location service, and declined the "location service in all HTC software that attempts to use location". We will see if this imroves things.

Any other advice or feedback? Thanks.

Problem with notifications?

On VZW's site, one person rated the phone and claimed that it had a problem with notifications.

"...have 3 problems/complaints with it. It continuously says I have unread messages. This notification will not go away unless I physically open the message. If I have more than one message from the sender, I have to open the message that amount of times for it to go away. Also, while the phone is in my pocket and I get a text or email, the screen unlocks causing me to pocket dial. And lastly, if I open the keyboard with a message open, it will send a blank message to the sender."

OK, the first two complaints actually make sense...the mail has not been read, so it shows it as unread. Duh!

Can anyone confirm that the phone does have a prob...

Roaming

I assume that this will roam on either Sprint or Verizons network even if you are on the other.

If I go overseas with it, am I able to use a carriers sim card from over there or do I have to use Verizons/Sprints overseas access (and subsequently pay an arm and a leg for it)?

Body Glove Case for TP2??

I got the Body Glove pouch for the phone, but I was wondering when a case will come out for it? I dropped my phone for the first time yesterday(wood panel floors). The back piece and the battery come off, which I promptly put back on. Theres a little nick on the phone. So far everything seems to be ok......
