Re: Reception concerns
umm.. nope.
ATT treats their employees extremely well. Huge profit sharing checks, (over 1400.00 last year)
The attendence issue is the same as it is anywhere else. It is not 3 absences per year. Its 6 absence occurences in one year. If you are sick for 8 days from the same thing, all you need is a doctor's note, and it counts as one occurence. If you have a severe medical condition, you are entitled ...

AT&T GSM sucks everywhere(nearly) Thinks that one major reason the got bought out
That is simply not true. AT&T GSM is the same as Cingular GSM. Since GSM came to the US, AT&T and Cingular have been putting up GSM towers in a joint venture.
I use AT&T GSM and I travel constantly. I have had no problems with it in L.A., New York, Austin, Denver* (near the airport it is a little ...
Re: AT&T 7pm nights & weekends
umm.. its March 7th... What happened? Did they pull the plug on it?
Re: ‘They don’t need the AT&T Wireless employees at all. '
..at this point, I could care less. Its all headed in the direction of one big corporate monopoly, just like everything else in this country is.
Re: ‘They don’t need the AT&T Wireless employees at all. '
Umm.. actually AWS already does outsource to India. Try calling at 3:00 in the morning. Who do you think answers the phone, smart ass?
Why don't you set your bong down, do some research and get some facts before you start spouting off with your knee-jerk reactions.
Re: Building your own cellular?!
Actually there are standards. Check out the FCC's website for mobile devices. There are RF and amplification standards for mobile devices just like there are for televisions, radios, walkie talkies, etc.
Re: DUDE WHERE IS MY PHONE?
If you are talking about getting a brand new P900 for free, and still having a functional old one, you are out of luck. The way that the insurance is set up is like this: If you damage your phone, you send them the old one, they send you a refurbished model. If your phone is stolen, the IMEI number goes on a deny list so that the piece of equipment can never be activated on a ...
Re: unlocking T616
Nope. But most carriers do lock phones. You need to get the unlock code. Is it an ATTWS fone?
Re: ATTWS North American Package
Is the North America Package a Rogers Wireless thing? I have never heard of it.
Re: How Do I look Up an Number?
Right, they still own the block of numbers, but that doesn't matter because when you look at primeris.com for that former att number that is now t-mobile, primeris is still going to tell you that it is att.
Re: ATTWS North American Package
Actually, if you are on the Digital One Rate Plan, you can add the call Canada feature for 19.99, which will eliminate roaming and ld charges in Canada.
Re: How Do I look Up an Number?
The website is primeris.com
However, after the whole LNP thing, nobody really knows who owns what number anymore. All the info that they have is from pre-LNP.
Re: XTNDConnectPC *grumble*
Thanks Christian,
I tried your website, but then it occured to me that I can send my contacts directly from outlook. If you could find a way to have more than one contact sent at once, I would pay for it. :0) Also, if you could find a way to sync the calender over the air, I would definately pay for that!

Has anyone been able to make this software recognize a phone? I have a T616 and a DCU-11
data cable. The communications suite instals, and I am able to successfully tether to my laptop. The mobile internet connection software recognizes that there is a phone connected, so the cable is obviously working. The software won't let me enable any of the COM ports. It won't let me configure any of the settings for outlook, ...

I am pretty sure that there will not be 46 million customers once the merger is complete. In January alone ATTW lost 2% of its customers, that is roughly 400,000 customers in one month, so if that trend continues over the next 6 months to a year that this will take to complete the new Cingular will have a few million customers less.
...the only way that trend would continue is if the same variables ...

Re: Ann Tagonist is mean
Yeah, the hair is hard to digest too.
Re: ‘They don’t need the AT&T Wireless employees at all. '
Appaprently they don't need the AT&T wireless employees... at least very much. I just heard that Cingular will close all the AT&T call centers, except for the top two. That seems a bit rediculous though... Cingular has fewer subscribers, the same amount of call center employees, and now they are taking on 21 million subs? That's going to be a hold time nightmare. I suppose Cingular does outsource to India though.. so maybe that will ...

Re: ‘They don’t need the AT&T Wireless employees at all. '
That "lawsuit" is a bunch of frivolous bullshit. There is no bait and switch going on. I know it sucks for consumers when there are errors on their bills, but that's not just Attws. Verizon and Sprint have big issues with that too. No one is forced to change a plan to a higher plan. The only example that I can think of that would be even remotely close to is where someone lives ...
Re: Calling plan and phone
ATTWS GSM Family Shareable (local) 39.99 + 9.99 each additional line (minus current promos) , 600 mins, unlimited n&w, ld included, discounted intl dialing. GSM is great in Austin. (I use it here) There are a few phones available that have FM radios. I'm not aware of any that have cameras and FM radios. I use a T616, because of the modem feature. It works great. I can get online with my laptop almost anywhere ...

Re: AT&T Buyout - Correction
That is not true. The largest cell phone company in the world is China Mobile, according to RCR wireless news.
Re: California Petition
Hmm... do I detect some biased opinions? Probably. Its hard to imagine the validity of this petition if one is inundated on a daily basis with grumpy consumers who just can't seem to understand how difficult this whole wireless industry thing is.
On the other hand, the checks and balances in place to protect the consumer from error are faulty. For instance: ...

Re: at&t/cingular
Good news, you won't have to buy new equip. Both companies use same network. One tip... if you have GSM service, and need to call ATT, call the 2G customer care queue and have them transfer you. They get through in 1/10th the time you do.
Re: ATTWS Stock
Umm... not so.
After the merger happens, aws stock is going to sky rocket...
according to all my day-trader geek buddies.

Re: AT&T Buyout - Correction
Hey! So its working? That is a pleasant surprise.
Re: AT&T Buyout
Yeah, I have been reading up on it, and there is lots of talk about DoCoMo, Vodaphone, and SBC actually aquiring attws. I spoke too soon. Good. Maybe then ATTWS will have 7:00 n&w and roll over minutes.
Re: AT&T Buyout - Correction
ATT is trying to push users in those areas on to its imaginary GSM network. (imaginary for the time being, not very many towers yet, but still building them) Hopefully no one in that area will notice or care that they are paying for non-working phone service.

Here is a clip from rcrnews.com
"The latest merger rumor between Cingular and AT&T Wireless was reported late Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the situation that noted the proposed deal—in which Cingular would acquire AT&T Wireless—has the backing of Cingular’s parent companies SBC Communications Inc. and BellSouth Corp."
I'll believe it when I see it.

Re: NEC 525
The NEC 525 has a known software glitch that causes it to drop calls. The ATTWS GSM network is still fairly new, and they are improving it everyday. (NY being an area that is continually being improved upon) Go to an AWS store, ask the rep behind the counter about his GSM connectivity. They are usually pretty honest about the quality of GSM in the area. I have that phone as well, and had the same issues ...
