Nice Rugged Phone

May 9, 2006 by bschwalbe

My company recently changed from Verizon because we were disappointed with the offerings in phones. We want phones, not phones with cameras or MP3 players or video recorders. Nextel seems to be focused on businesses so we figured we'd give them a try. We were given the i560 for our managers and we love them. We've had them for a few months now and they seem to be very reliable at least in comparison to the flimsy Verizon phones.

PROS: Rubberized exterior, color screen, display on outside, both interior and exterior speakers have good sound, firm build quality.

CONS: In Illinois Nextel did not offer the yellow color (though a Nextel yellow/black battery cover can be ordered off eBay), poorly designed charger port cover.

Bottom line: A good rugged phone for those who want a phone for business, not play.

sucks

Nice\\Battery life??

So far the I560 on the Mike Network in Canada, has proven to be a solid performer. Good reception, nice incomming sound. The out going voice seems to be clear I dont seem to be getting any complaints about tinny or shoddy sound reproduction. The phone feels solid as well. Easy too use key pads not tough on the fingers.

My only concern may be battery life, so far not great. But My phone has only been through a couple of charging cycles. Lets see if she warms up ( batt life.)^ Nice^.

Any comments on Battery life let me know...... thanks

I560

Good phone..better than than I530 (With the outside caller ID & color screen) Although the color screen could use some more resolution, but I guess thats why the price is lower. I was disappointed to fine out the phone was'nt available in yellow, just black. (Nextel) Southernlinc has it in the 2 color choices. Bought the phone for my use at work (police & firefighter use) because of the rugged appearance. I'm sure it will outlast other phones, but dont think it will withstand too much abuse.
Rock On!!

low quality audio

Battery Life - What a joke

The i560 is a great phone. I have owned this particular model for about 2 mths now. I love the design and ruggedness. The features are great, and I really like the yellow color. The reception and voice quality is also a bonus. I upgraded to the i560 from the motorola T720, mostly for the Direct Connect (Canada - Mikes). The i560 out performs the T720 in all areas except the battery life. The manufacturer estimates something like 165 mins talk time and 70 hrs standby with the high performance battery (standard battery that comes with the phone) but this is a crock [...]. I get maybe 2 days of life out of this battery, using it primarily for direct connect, and of course some normal talking. I used to get 4 days out of the T720 using it the same..anyone else find the battery life on the i560 sux???
