This phone is one of the best that I have ever owned!! I really have only one complaint about the phone. The battery life could be better.

The best phone I've ever owned

May 24, 2005 by chukcanuk

Actually only the second one I've had and the first was a Nokia freebie for signing up for my plan. None the less I'm impressed.
Good solid metal body,beautiful screen.
I paid with rebate) in exchange for a three year commitment to continue my relationship with Rogers in Hogtown.
Pro's
-great reception
-speaker phone and voice dial work really well
-easy to navigate menu
-Bluetooth
-32 mb memory
Con
The ONLY reason this does not get a five is that Motorola's connectors suck.My computer had trouble recognizing the phone. I'm sure it has to do with the connector from phone to cable. Charging it I feel like I'm going to break it every time I take it out. Throw away the cable and get a usb Bluetooth key.

The camera is 1.2 mega pixel but its a plastic lens and there is shutter lag. You can upload bigger photo's but the bigger size accentuates the camera's short comings.

MP3 player works well . Through the speaker it sounds like a cheap boom box.
The battery has not gone through three cycles yet. The first one was fast .the second was four days with LOTS of playing around.
I like it and recommend it.
If you decide to purchase it I highly reccomend getting Mobile Phone Tools from the American Motorola site. Its not on the Canadian one. Great for setting up your address book, transfering files and creating ringtunes from your mp3 collection.

[+] 1.2 MP Camera (Good Quality Pictures)
[+] Speakerphone (Loud)
[+] MP3 Player
[+] EDGE (Pretty Fast)
[+] Bluetooth (Transfer Friendly)
[+] Expandable Memory (Alot More Storage)
[+] Battery Life (5 Days)
[+] Reception (The Best)

[Cons]
[-] NO FM Radio
[-] Weak Camera Flash

All in all a exellent phone.

Very very nice phone!

I use to have a Sony Ericsson S700i cell phone, but I needed more speed to download (EDGE) and a smaller phone, so, I decided to get the v635 after a long compare between several options of nice phones from SE, Nokia, Motorola and so on. The best I saw cost/benefic phone is this, with him you get a real MP3 player plus Pendrive, an excellent price for accessories and a very good quality of voice/video messaging.

It lacks on don't come with double stereo headsets for music like my old S700i did, and its screen is also small for a very complexity piece it is, but, nothing is perfect :-)

I recommend it!

Awesome Phone

Pros:

-tons of features: MP3, video, 1.23mp digicam, speakerphone, included headset
-MP3 ringtones is fun
-the digicam shoots surprisingly good pictures
-the videos are fluid and good quality
-really nice screen
-really clear, good reception
-really loud, sensitive and useful speakerphone
-expandable memory
-interface is intuitive and attractive

Cons:
-its too loud...i can't turn down the volume enough without turning it off
-LED flash produces a light blue fuzz on bottom right of the screen
-MP3's dont sound that great, even through the headset
-lots of features, but only the screen, speakerphone, reception and headset excel. the other features are mediocre.

Conclusion: awesome phone. a must have. people surround me to look at it =). really useful too i use it as my organizer as well.

Great Phone !!

Great Phone, everything we have waited for!!

Pros: Great RF, great volume, good design. I have a European version so the firmware isn't the best, but once it gets over here, I'm sure the modders will go to town.

Cons: None that won't be corrected in time.

gotta love it!

i used to have a motorola v400 for a little over a year. i never really had any problems with that one. i was loooking on e-bay and found this amazing phone. mine came from germany, and it kinda scared me when i turned it on and everything was in german! but, whe i put my sim card in, it automatically switched to english. i LOVE that loud ringer, camera, games, setup, and overall look. (i was happy that the basic menu setup was the same as my old phone)the camera is absolutly awsome. i recently went to an outdoor concert at night. when i was taking pictures(on the LAWN section @ the back of the concert area...so about 100 yrds), i was able to take pretty decent pictures of the television screens. i think my dad paid about $215 including shipping. it came with the memory card too. the ONLY problem that i have had so far, is sometimes when it's ringing and i open it to answer, it still rings for a second, then connects the call. haven't used the bluetooth too much yet, but seems good. speekerphone hasn't given me any problems either.

this phone is awesome! i would recomend it to anyone who is looking for a durable motorola that has all the looks!!

Best phone Ive ever had

This phone is really excellent in my opinion. I just got in about 2 weeks ago and yes it came with some software issues but after flashing it and customizing it, it is exactly the way I want it. I have no complaints about it. The camera is excellent for a phone camera and the Transflash ability is off the hook. Then theres the fact that I can connect it to my computer and download anything I want into it without having to pay for it. I have T-mobile and although they do not offer this phone yet, with some modding I have been able to get it working flawlessly. I payed $200 for it and it was worth every single penny. Coming from Nokia I thought it would be very different but I have adjusted to it and I couldn't see myself without this phone. It is stylish and the front display is not as clear as the inside but it is far better than any other phone Ive seen out there. So bottom line, if you are thinking about buying this phone do some research and become acquainted with flashing (Howardforums.com), so if it comes with buggy software you can take care of the problem. Its my little computer in the shape of a phone as far as I'm concerned.

V635i So far so good.

Great phone
- Built in 1.3mp camera, great functionality, with flash
- mp3 player, came with 512mb sandisk trans flash card
- free usb cable included, which lets me use the phone as a mass storage device, also it can be used for other things like customizing the phonne, trasnfering stuff to and from it
- better than expected battery life, it lasts almost a week for me with minor usage.

one thing I can't figure out is I have a 4BR firmware and not sure where I have to start to go to the latest firmware.

Also using the firmware I have the sound recording memory limit is set to 60 seconds.. even though the phone has about 8mb free space I can only record 60 seconds of voice before I run out of memory & I can't allocate more memory for the voice recorder, I have to delete the 60 second file to record another, also can't seem to move the sound recordings out of the phone, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Awsome phone, I see motorola did a good job with this one, fixed alot of the issues the V220 had and the v551. THe battery life is improved, lasts about a week. The usb cable that comes with the phone easily plugs into your pc as a mass storage device and lets you fill the phone up with alot of things or just download stuff from the phone. The mp3 player is great lets me listen to tunes in the car hooked up to my system, the 1.3mp camera is great too, phone is a little big tho, and the navigation takes some getting used to. I think its a great phone loaded with tons of features you just wont find in a v3 razar.
