There are better tracfones

Feb 8, 2006 by suemccartin

pro:
color screen
polyphonic ring tones
flip phone

cons:
No data port
No way to add ringtones
poor battery life
batteries very hard to change
Non standard motorola charger
Tracfone doesn't support all the functions of the phone.

I upgraded from the v60i for the color screen and the polyphonic ringtones that were supposedly downloadable...NOT, doesn't work and tracfone has stopped advertising that it does for this phone. The v60 was a better phone, I'm tempted to dump this thing and go back to it. Tracfone has been a great service for me, for what basically works out to less than 10 bucks a month I have a cell phone for the ocasional call, I don't spend hours on my cell everything just the occasional call to say I'll be late or when trying to find an address. Tracfone needs to upgrade their service to support downloadable ringtones and internet or they're going to lose market share to the prepaid services that do offer that stuff. Text messages on this phone are free incoming, .3 units outgoing but if it's a long message you get charged by the page so it could be .6 units for a really long ext msg.

Basic phone no frills. Works ok but could be a lot better, few ringtones, few games, 2 screen savers, no dataport.

This phone is good for making calls and receiving calls. But if you want you want fun and pictures this is not the way to go. This phone will not stay charged up a complete day. I didn't call cingular I just moved to a different phone. I have not had this phone a year and LCD back-screen light does not work. Overall this phone is good for light users.

Got this phone from Cingular seemed good but its not. For a basic phone which is what i needed it a POS. The volume on mine was set to max and i couldn't still hear the person on the other end. I though it was my signal level but that was fine. I don't recommend at all.

Horrible.

Motorola V170

Okay first of all let me say that this phone back in 2003-04 when it came out crappily was 70 bucks, and now is like 15-10-5 etc.

I have had 2 of these with the card phone tracfone service. I honestly liked it as my first flip phone but now I am not impressed seeing I have a cooler phone now then I did back then.

The 1st phone was okay, I had it for like 2 months. I then switched to Verizon to the Samsung SGH u340, I got another as a backup phone in case I would need one for where Verizon didn't get reception. I left it for over 3 months, went to see if I had any minutes, the dang thing was dead.

It sucked that it died, but it doesn't matter because I use verizon fully now.

Never Get This!!!

I have a TracFone Motorola V170. I will start with the fact that this phone is a tank. It does not go easy on the pocket, and it's heavy. I only got this because someone in my family got a new phone. The display is the smallest I have ever seen, and the graphics are horrible. There is no optional camera, and it's just downright ugly. Don't bother whipping it out in a waiting room either, 'cause the games, they just don't like fun. They like slow. Really slow. It does not support e-mail, and you can't download any ringtones (which stink) or get any data services.
There are many design flaws in the v170. For instance, the one hole for a speaker, and flat open face, will eventually cramp your ear on the nerve points. They wasted too much space with the screen border, while they could have had a 2 inch screen instead of a 1 1/4 inch one. Again, it's ugly. I just love to Sharpie all over mine, and it makes it look better. The long antenna could have easily been integrated into the side. The phone in whole is an inch thick!
Don't think about using your Bluetooth, either. You've got to use old-fashioned wires
and clips.
So PLEASE, don't even consider this phone. They have better ones for the same price.

Pros:
color screen
the service

Cons:
thickness
design
screen size
graphics
un-compatibility
lack of internet
battery life
lack of entertainment

(P.s., the battery only lasts me about 5 days.)
So please, trust the facts and don't get this simplest's phone; unless you like getting laughed at.
;^)
