Tracfone Motorola V170....long battery life, loads of features, no monthly bills

Jan 24, 2006 by CellphoneCustomer

I recently purchased the Motorola V170 (Tracfone Service), and am amazed with the quality of the phone and service.

The Motorola V170 is a very durable, powerful, compact phone with a battery life of 300 hours standby time- before the phone even has to be recharged !!!

One push of the "1" button on the phone, and I had my voice mail introductory message recorded and set up in 3 minutes.

Decent, average phone.

I purchased this phone (the v173) as a prepaid for my gf. It works well for what is - at the price these go for of course, you can't expect miracles out of it. Yes, the screen is small - however when you dial the numbers are blown up to a very large size so that even the more visually challenged people should have no problem reading them. It's no amazing bear-trap for reception - but is up to par with most newer phones.

All in all, it makes for a nice, cheap, reliable phone for the average prepaid user.

Pretty Nice!

Pros:
easy to use
good buttons
Small
lightweight

Cons:
No outer Caller ID display
screen is small

A perfect phone for someone who wants a basic, cheap phone that works good

Seems to be a good phone.

So far I'm fairly impressed with this little phone. Very good range and voice quality. Small screen but it's big enough to display all relevant info. Sturdy construction and good key feel.
Maybe I'm too easily satisfied but I grew up with mechanical typewriters, slide rules, and unsanitary pay phones. To me the entire cell phone network (along with the associated phones) is a marvelous thing in spite of the glitches!

Charging Correctly is Important

I have had my V170 since February of 2006 and charging the battery and keeping charge has never been a problem.
I was told that you have to charge the battery and then not recharge until the battery is completely weak.
So that is what I do. And I don't seem to have any issues with the charging.

I do however have issues with coverage. I don't always have reception. Dropped calls ...everyone hates them, I've just learned not to make phone calls in those areas.

The phone is tough, nice handling, has good ring tones, and it's easy to add minutes.

Love my V170 phone.

It's as phone! It does what it's suppose to do, and that is to make and recieve your calls. Unfortunately thats the only good thing it does.
This is my second cell phone ever in my life. And coming from a non-flip, non-color phone, this is ok.

Pros:
Color
Flip Phone

Cons:
No external screen
Can't download ringtones
For some stupid my date will not change!

Junkorama

I knew this phone was a piece of junk when I bought it...so no surprises there. I payed 28 bucks for a referb v173 just to try out Cingular's go phone converage.

I love their plan, but I hate this phone. The sound quality is horrible. I always have trouble hearing the person on the other end. The phone also just feels junky like its going to come apart in your hand. The screen is absolutely teeny.

If you want to get a cheapy just to try out Go phones then drop 28 bucks on this phone, but if you want a good phone that you can actually get some enjoyment out of then don't waste your time.

Cingular now offers the Pantech c300 as a go phone. it may be the way for you to go if you actually want to get a cool phone with lots of features.
