Disappointed!!!!

Jan 10, 2006 by jimh615

I had a Motorola E815 with Verizon.....I loved that phone.

I now have a Razor V3 with T-Mobile.

PROS: Over my Motorola E815 I can't think of any.

CONS: The Blue Tooth operation is horrible. I use a Motorola 850. On my E815 any name in the phonebook could be accessed on the bluetooth merely by saying the name. NOT true of the Razor where you have to voice record the name into the phone book for each entry so the bluetooth can access it.

Key board is designed for tiny slender fingers.

Phone is so slim it's hard to grip. Hopefully ordered case will help.

I've hat this phone now with T-Mobile service for about 3 months. I have the video recording feature which is neat but the video quality is as equally poor as the picture quality and you can only record for 5 seconds. The phone is really cool to look at and I've gotten a lot of "Ouuus" and "Ahhhs" from friends and family. Sadly that's where the fun ends.

Pros:
1. The phone is thin and very easy to carry around.
2. Very cool style for a phone that grabs attention.
3. Long battery time.
4. Creative text messaging features

Cons:
1. Easy to drop.
2. Buttons are somewhat difficult to press.
3. Useless camera and video features due to their poor quality.
4. Lots of ring tones with excellent sound quality but you can't assign them to specific numbers in your phone book.
5. Call waiting feature does not always work well so at times a call would be stuck on hold for a long time.
6. No multiple entries for names in phone book so one name can only have one number. If you have a friend with a cell, home and work number, you'd have to save each number with the same name. Now your phone book with have the same name 3 times with different numbers. How retarded!!

Not all it's cracked up to be.

I ended up with this phone after I got my Motorola V551 - I believe it is - wet. The guy was kind of pressuring me to make a decision and at the time there was my old phone, the Razor and this ugly Nokia that had bluetooth so I got the razor to test it out. At Walmart they're selling the razor (for T-Mobile) at LESS THAN $200! I paid about $330 after tax. Cingular was also giving it away FREE when you sign up with them for 2 years. I later returned it after deciding this phone is basically a beautiful blonde with a huge hard/fake chest but no memory or brains. Also was very afraid to drop it. I'm not going to list the pro's and cons but the V551 is almost the exact same thing as the motorola v551 besides it's looks and the fact that the v551 - in my opinion - had better ring tones, camera, pictures and (seemingly better) durability . I then got a Samsung P207 - to try something new, I've had Motorola phones for a while now and I don't like them very much - you can go read about what I thought of the Samsung if you'd like..

I use to really like the motorola razr v3. I went out and bought and at the time is was more the $300.00 talk about expensive. I went out and made a deal and the guy at cingular gave me the razr v3 for $200.00 or like a $100.00 less. About 3 days after I got my razr I dropped it on my carpet floor in my living room. It was not working it was like the batteries where dead. I tried to do whatever I could to see what was wrong with. I charged the battery, made sure the battery was okay, tried to turn the phone on. I went back to the Cinglar booth and found out that the system inside was busted and would cost alot just to fix it. I called the customer care center from my home phone. First it took so long to get connected and then everyone I talked kept on transfering me because they did'nt know what to do. Fianlly one guy that I talked said I would get it covered. The catch was i had to wait 3 months for my insurance to activate. I decided to go get another I mean pay my cell phone bill for 3 months without using it. I got a really old cheap phone the cheapest one I could find. It cost me about $25.00 plus he said I have to pay 20 more dollars because the Cinglar policy is that if you get a phone upgrade before 1 year you will have to pay an addition 20 dollars. At the end I got a cheap phone for $45.00 dollors and when I started to use the service it was really bad. The reception was really bad and the I could'nt hear anything and the person I was talking to could'nt hear me. I ended my service and paid about $150.00 dollors and swiched to Sprint PCS and I have to say that the MM-7400 is a lot better then the Razr V3 v3 and the service is a lot better as well. So there you have my explanation of why I use to like Cingular and the Razr and now why I don't like Razr or Cinglar.

PROS
its super sleek and stylish
thats about it!!!
as far as an actual phone is concerned, i wouldn't even use it if someone gave it to me as a gift.
it drops calls Very often
the volume is really low, even when you put it to the max.
camera is medioker(which shouldnt be considering how expensive this phone is)
i just feel that there are plenty of better phones out there for far less money

Motorola RAZR V3

Sep 1, 2005 by abercrombief57

The Motorola RAZR V3 is not the phone that I imagined I was purchasing. After considering other phones, and reading their reviews, I finally decided to go with the RAXR. Here is my pros and cons list:

Pros:
Small and sleek.
Smart looking.
Great pictures.
Loud ring tones.
Great speaker phone quality and volume.
Everything is customizable.

Cons:
Terrible reception.
Dropped calls.
Internal speaker quality is terrible. It sounds like the person I am speaking to is talking through a pillow.

I had a Sony Ericsson prior to this phone, and I have to say that it was much better than this one. I am very disappointed in this phone. A few other things I've noticed about this phone are that "Tools" is in a weird place. It should be under "Tools", but instead, it's under "Settings". And, two phone numbers cannot be saved under one individual's name. Two separate entries are made for a home number and a work number.

Good Phone, but went back to V551

I've tried out alot of the recent Motorola phones from V220, V400, V551 and the Razr V3. If you have the V400/V551, the Razr has pretty much the same type of software and menus.

I upgraded a few months ago from the V400 to the V551 because it had more features. But, in the last month, I wanted something slimmer, so I shelled out the cash and got the V3. Both have pretty much the same features although the V3 doesn't have the video recording capability. Not a big deal because if you are planning on using that feature for anything important, then buying a camera/video phone is not the answer.

As advertised, the V3 is slim and lightweight which is great, but comparing the V551 to the V3, it wasn't worth the extra money. Motorola phones don't get good signals as Nokias in my area, so me paying $400 for a phone that would average 2-3 signal bars wasn't worth it. The V440 and V551 always got me better signal strength.

If you like to look cool and have a slim phone and you have money to spend, then go for the Razr V3. If you want a phone that has pretty much the same features + video recording and possibly better signal strength- go to the V551. Also, pictures don't come out looking as well on the Razr than the V551. If want to upload pictures using Motorola Phone Tools, the V3 will make you sad for spending so much money.

If you think the V3 makes you look cool....here's something for you...the V551 will as well.

Sweeeeeeet Phone

I was a Nokia fan before this phone(6230 TDMA best phone ever)but I have become a changed man. V3 has some flaws as all phones debit I have never had better reception on a GSM phone. I have to admit the phone book sucks as far as searching for numbers. Easy way to get rid of multiple phone numbers is to get rid of them. MPT 3.3 software is excellent @ that, I got rid of all e-mail addresses and fax numbers when I synced with outlook and deleted almost half of phone book.

Pro's
#1 phone reception I have signal everywhere(bay Area)
Microphone awesome(got caught by client @ Giants game instead of thier house...SUCK)
999 speed dial numbers(I group people around numbers 100,150,200....etc
MP3 ringtones that you can rip yourself with software (wife's is "she shook me" by AC/DC)
I am a contractor and have dropped phone many times It takes a lickin and keeps on tickin
loud ringer, awesome Bluetooth reception, best speaker phone I have used, easy usb sync, great customization features, best pred text I've seen, Killer screen for my SF Giants LOGO, custom shortcuts to anything (calculator, alarm....etc)

Con's
battery life sub par but when using bluetooth in car just leave it charging
slower menu's than some phones
horrible address book search
phone freezes once a month and needs to restart( I use phone about 2.5 hrs a day)

I recommend this phone to anyone who makes a living based on whether they have reception or not.

Motorola PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, offer a software upgrade for phone book.... willing to pay for it, also hope to be able to purchase black V3
