HP iPAQ Glisten
Good Hardware, Poor Software
First, I want to say I am a Windows Mobile fan. I was anxiously waiting for this phone to replace my Samsung BJ2. I like the form factor, have had touch screens before and I cannot type on them. This was going to be a good compromise for me because it has both.
The hardware is good quality, sturdy case, good buttons nice quality feel. They made a mistake putting Windows Mobile Professional on this phone. It should not be a touch screen phone. The fonts are WAY TOO SMALL, the software is severely limited in that they removed almost everything they could from the software to make it run on this hardware...example..they even remove the TASK MANAGER! The OS is snappy on this hardware and manus are fast with no lag. But it is a mismatch with the OS. They should have put WM6.5 Standard, Not PRO.
The display looks nice but because the screen is so small they had to make the fonts smaller and really uncomfortable after a while to read emails and such. Icons are not sharp on this screen.
When you have WinMo Pro, you are expected to use the touch screen. And you should have space on the screen to press items that pop up like reminders and other menus that can only appear when you press the screen. This screen is so small that tt almost REQUIRES you to use the stylus. What a pain!
I used the phone for 4 days and sent it back. Battery life was OK, not great like I expected from a battery of this size. Real talk time was just a couple of hours. Real world standby time less than one day.
I think if they re-released the phone with WM6.5 Standard or even 6.1 standard, I would try it again.
