Great Improvement!

Aug 8, 2008 by ft2040

Well Sharp decided to hit once again, with yet another new Sidekick, and it looks like I'm the first one besides Phonescoop to get his hands on one.

The sidekick 2008 is actually the improvement that everyone has been waiting for in a sidekick. It's smaller, More customizable than ever, and has the camera that it so desperately needed on the LX model. The screen is as beautiful as the LX, minus the size, and the speaker on here is far more superior that both the LX and the slide. With the new 2.0 megapixel camera with video capture, the Sidekick 2008 has been well equipped with the camera that everyone who has owned this phone before, have been dreaming of and screaming for. A lot of people will find the smaller size of the Sidekick 2008 more functional than the previous brick form factors of all of the previous Sidekicks.

While the Sidekick 2008 is a major leap in the right direction, it still has some flaws. personality is not a question with this phone, but it will make you question your high phone bill. As with all of the previous models of the Sidekick, Mp3s saved to the memory card cannot be used as ringtones or message tones. Any cute pictures of your dog on your memory card ladies? Well Fido will only be available for everyone to see if you show the picture through the picture viewer, since pictures saved to the device or the memory card cannot be used as backgrounds or themes.

In closing, the new Sidekick 2008 is a major improvement on the LX, the Slide and pretty much all of the Sidekicks before it. While that may be the case, there are still a few areas that need to be addressed, but at least with the Sidekick 2008, the Sidekick is now multiple steps closer to being the phone that everyone really wants it to be.

I give the Sidekick 2008 a Phonescoop rating of 4.0 out of 5. Great Improvement Sharp. Great improvement indeed.
