Reliable and Easy to use
I have had the Motorola V555 for serveral months now. I love my phone. I originally had the V400 then the V505. I found that the V555 got better signal, better battery life and sound quality was awesome. I will always perfer flip phones over bar phones because you never have to worry about locking the keys or dialing stranger numbers. The camera takes good pictures for a cell phone. The only thing I'd like to see Motorola change about this phone is the charging port. It can becaome to touchy and can be a pain to charge. I can't sit around all day holding the charger into the phone.

V555 SWEET!
I got this phone thru an AT&T provider and I love it! I'm not sure about the problems other users are having, but the V55 is great. I love the sleek design, I have the grey face with the brushed silver and I think it's very pretty. This is the first Motorola I have owned and overall I like it. When I first started to play with the phone there were plenty of fun suprises. The response time is a little sluggish, especially when I'm text messaging. I can take and save photos and videos with no problems and the screen is phenomenal. I fell in love with this phone as soon as I saw it and I would recommend it to anyone (and I'm a very picky phone consumer!)

best phone I've had the privilege of using
I've had my phone, the Motorola v551, for almost a year now. I absolutely love the phone. With the lifetime timer at almost 7000 hours, I must say this phone is very durable. With some minor scratches from me dropping the phone, there are no major flaws. I love the clamshell design of the phone. It folds up nicely and fits snugly in my pocket. The monochromatic external screen is large and clear enough for me to check the time whenever I need to. The phone has excellent reception compared to my mom's Samsung. The phone has pretty much the same features as most other phones. Text and multimedia messaging is about the same as any other phone. The v551 has a camera which is handy to take pictures of random, spontaneous things. There's also a video camera so you can record priceless moments that go on everyday. The v551 has speakerphone, but I don't really use it that much. It's a quad band world phone meaning I can use it all around the world because it supports the 4 GSM bands. The feature I love the most about this phone is bluetooth. I can easily transfer pictures, ringtones, and contacts to and from my phone. Along with a wireless bluetooth headset, I can drive handsfree without worrying about getting tangled up in a cord. If you use bluetooth a lot the battery life isn't that great. Without bluetooth usage I can go three days without needing to charge my phone. It's no real problem though because I charge my phone every night. The call quality is superb. I have no problems hearing my friends and my friends have no problems hearing me. Overall this is the best phone I've ever had the privilege of using. It has the essentials for me which are text messaging, camera, video camera, bluetooth, and most importantly of all I can make calls on it.

A great phone!
Review of my Cingular phone.
I love the Motorola V551. It's a medium sized clamshell with a silver and blue plastic casing.
It's sturdy and durable, I don't even know how many times I've dropped it and its kept going with nothing more than minor scratches.
It has mobile AIM preloaded which helps me keep in touch with all my buddies, a mobile web browser that lets me check news and weather (and with EDGE data support on the phone, its way faster than my old phone). It also has bluetooth which I absolutely love as it lets me transfer my pictures and videos back and forth to the phone and lets me make my own custom ringtones and upload them.
Battery life for the first few charges are so-so, but then I noticed it got way better after the first couple of charges. It lasts me about two to three days with a good amount of talking.
Call quality is great, I think its as much the network as it is the phone. On a trip to upstate NY I hit a deadspot in the middle of nowhere (wilderness) but other than that I was pretty impressed that I've never had a dropped call. The moto is a quadband worldphone so if I wanted to even go out of the country I'd get signal.
My overall opinion is that the phone is the best value right now in a Cingular phone. I've noticed most of the sales reps I've talked to have it, and its no suprise seeing how great this phone is.

where is the v551 ??
Well I think you would be better off with a V551 than the V557. The reception on this phone is lacking from the first moto in this series. Not a upgrade but instead a down grade.

Motorola V551 Data Connector/Power Issues
I have had this phone for six months and feel
that a very important engineering issue exists with this phone. The data connector
and battery charger port on this phone uses
spring loaded pin contacts against gold plated pads. Over time the pads get lint on them and the spring pins no longer provide a good contact. This results in poor battery charging (or no battery charging) and failed data transfers. Motorola should have used a different style connector ( side contact slide pins with self cleaning action) or provided a trap door on the bottom of the phone to keep dust and lint out. The sign that things are going south is that you have to reinsert the charger over and over and fiddle with it to get the phone to charge and the same thing will occur when using a usb.data cable accessory. The only way I can keep my V551 running is to use a safety pin to scrape the gold plated pads to keep them clean. My next phone will not have this poor data and power connector on it.

Horrible Reception
I had the v330 w/ tmobile and i thought tmobile was horrible- i had 1 bar in my house until i put my sim card in an old samsung phone that i once had w/ tmobile and 5 bars. so i definitely don't recommend this .

Drops call every 10 mins
This phone is the worst phone I have ever had.
Pros
1>NONE
Cons
1. Drops calls like crazy.
2. Get get calls and the phone does not ring.
3. battery life is about 20 hrs standby, 45min talk time.
4. takes 5 hrs to charge.
I was going to cancel my Cingular service because of this phone but I tried a Nokia 6102 before I did and the Nokia has operated FLAWLESSLY.
