Can someone explain how to get ringtones on the phone by text messaging. I tried bitpim and the phone is locked for that software.
Thanks in advance

I use d-d-n.com........there's a charge(I pay 15.00 per year), but I can create my own ringtones or use the ones other people have created. 😁
...
d-d-n.com does not support this phone

Use latest version of bitpim and list your phone as the 8500, works perfectly!

you could also send yourself (via an email account like yahoo or msn) a "pix" message with an mp3 song attached. the address to your phone would be 3125551234@vzwpix.com. (replace 3125551234 with your own 10-digit cell number). Once your phone receives this "pix" message, you can save the sound/song. I just got this phone today so haven't tried this out yet, but I know this is one way of doing it with previous phones. Hope it still works.

Yeah, you're right. I use a program called Magix Ringtone Maker sometimes, and I can get a 1 minute long ringtone(maybe a little more) for about that many kb.

I emailed two 568k ringtones to my phone earlier. worked like a charm...
...
I will check it tonight but I think I also mailed myself one that is over 800k.

Don't know if anyone is still looking at this, but I emailed an .mp3 ringtone that was more than 1 meg and it worked. The sound is lower than the ones I created for my old moto razr that I had converted to mono midi files from stereo mp3 files.

i have emailed myself a 1.9mb file and successfully received it on my phone. Sometimes my phone will say that the file is too big, but the message stays in my inbox and I can go in and select the option to receive the message and it will download just fine. the only message that got sent back to my email had a 3.5mb file attached.

Hello there and thanks to everyone for input on the VX8600! I love mine despite the fingerprint problems. I just sooo miss being able to set my own ringtones like on the 7000 and 8000. I had the 8100 last and really missed the personalized ringtones. Is there a way to get your own ringtones on the 8600? HELP PLEASE! 😢
...
either but a micro cardc or emailthem to your phone. 123-456-7890@vzwpix.com but use your cell number, lol

When using bitpim to put ringers on the phone, do you do it the same way like the 8100 and 8300? If not then how do you do it. Someone please reply to this message.
Thank You

I dunno how to do it with the above phones, but w/ the 8600, I put the file into the ringtone folder by hitting then upload the file into the phone. I use a data cable. I think my uploaded current ringtone is about 300kb. I cut it to 30 seconds with a wave editor first.
I have another question though.. my daughter wanted me to send her my ringtone. Can I do that? Phone to phone? Or do I have to do it Computer to phone?

I have sent ringtones phone to phone without a problem. Send it as a pix message and attach the ringtone. If you dont have unlimited text messaging it might be better to just email so it doesn't cost you a text message.
...
But when I try to create a pix msg, it doesn't allow me to attach a ringtone, it only allows text, pix, or sounds. Ringtones are a different catagory, and not one of the options.
She has the Nokia 6215i, not sure about how her phone accepts new ringtones, either.
