Speakerphone Q?

NJPhoner

I just returned from the Verizon store where I checked out the new 8600. Can I please get some feedback about the speakerphone. It seemed very quiet. The rep first played music from the phone and that was loud enough, but when we tested the actual speakerphone is seemed VERY low. Please reply with your experience so far. THANKS 😁

it's not that bad when you turn it all the way up. However, music does sound louder.

Do you think you could really use it if you were in an office and needed a few people to hear the person on the other end? Or in the car - would you need to physically hold the phone to hear the person you're talking to? I'm not trying to be annoying. I'm trying to decide if I should return the 8300 I got 10 days ago or keep it. The speakerphone is important to me.

In the office: Yes, only if the door is closed. If you have a lot of background noise i don't think you would be able to hear it.
In the car: Have not tested it out yet.

Just did another test. If the speaker phone is important to you don't get the phone.

yes, the speakerphone is terrible. It's only useful in a quiet room, and would be useless in car with the road noise unless you hold it close to your ear. Coming from an 8300 this was quite a surprise. Everything else about the phone is great so I will probably keep it, but I will not mail in my rebate form right away just in case.

Keep the 8300...The 8600 isn't much better unless you want to read texts from the outside screen or you don't want to use an adapter for the 2.5mm jack..

The 8600 has a lot of the same wallpapers as the 8300, plus one of the display themes of the 8600 is almost identical to the 8300.

Well from what I read there are some differences and also from what I see. I personally would rather have a phone without the antenna stub and also the vx8600 is slimmer and would fit in my shirt pocket better. Can't comment on the inner workings yet, but will when I recieve the 8600.

I like LG speaker phones too.
I have the 4700 with the huge external speaker. I still have to hold it up to my ear in a loud car and on loud streets.
Having said that each phone is different.

So far it sounds like the speaker is not good. Would anyone else like to give their thoughts? Also feel free to comment on battery life and reception. Thank you all!!

By far the most unusable speaker implementation in a cell phone yet..

The volume out of the phone is totally silly. In any regular environment you can not hear anything and the speaker being on the outside lid, makes it worse.. If you turn it over, you can hear if you put it up to your ear. We tested 3 different ones and the solectron guy in the store almost fainted when I showed him. He went to the store manager and showed him and they freaked out. So many people are going to return this phone because of this.

Imagine 5 months of testing and the VZW testing group forgot to test the speaker volume ? This is so dumb on their part.

I am bummed, The phone is really nice in so many other ways...

I love the screens , they are insa...

I agree the speakerphone is worthless and also the charging port in terrible. However, everything else about the phone is great. The sound is loud and clear. It looks classy and feels great to hold and works great with my bluetooth speakerphone car kit which at the same time makes up for the pathetic speakerphone on the handset. The phone could have been made a bit thicker with speakers placed on the sides. It makes absolutely no sense to have a tiny single speaker on the front especially since these morons at LG won't let us use the speakerphone with the flip closed. The charging port on this phone is just as awkward as the pre-usb motorolas and a terrible idea. Overall it's a great phone but with 2 tragic flaws. Chances are I can live wit...
