Speakerphone?

Both the specs on this site and the ones on the verizon website says this phone has speakerphone, but I can't find the setting in the phone and the manual doesn't even mention speakerphone. Does this phone actually have it?

It sure does. Works real well too. Take a look at your phone and find the clear button which is below the OK button and sandwiched between the send and end keys. Look directly below the clear button. There is a picture of a speaker on a button. Press this to activate the speaker.

Don't know which phone you are talking about, but it's not the 8600. The small button on the right side of the screen turns on the speakerphone, but you have to be in a call first. That same button also controls voice commands (push up) and the camera (push down) when you aren't in a call.
BTW the speakerphone in this phone is just about worthless, almost no volume to it at all. Even with the volume control turned all the way up it's nearly impossible to hear.

I apologize. I was thinking of the LG VX8300 not the 8600. I own the 8300 along with three other members of my family. Great phone and we all love it. The speaker is loud and clear. Again, sorry for the screw up. The 8300 seems to do just about everything the 8600 does. It isn't as slim and has an external antenna but I like the keypad better and the speaker is great if that is what you are interested in. Battery life is great too. Good luck.

The speakerphone works just fine. You must wait for the call to begin and the speaker icon to appear. Press "OK". The phone responds with the message "Press OK to xfer sound". Press "OK" again. Now the speakerphone is activated. You can deactivate the speakerphone by pressing "OK" twice again.
