texting and the keypad

I now have the new samsung u740 with the query board and I love it for texting but the numbers are so so small that I fear I will not be able to make an average phone call when needed. I am also not totally sold on the query board since I have gotten so good at onehanded texting with t9word. I am considering the 8600 since it seems to be basically the same phone without the query board. I was originally talked out of the 8600 by a verizon sales man because of the flat keypad. I told him I text a lot and he said I'd never get use to not having keys you can feel. In all that I have read it seems that most people do get used to the 8600 keypad, any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

i just got the vx8600 on friday. i upgraded from the 6100. i text...a lot. i'm very proficient in T9 and i was so familiar with my phone that i could text pretty well without looking at the phone (not perfect, but close).

when looking to get a new phone, i did quite a bit of research and one reason i decided against the samsung u740 and enV, is because of the qwerty board. i'm a fast texter and in the end, figured that i'd still be much faster texting with the keypad over the qwerty board.

Thank you very much, this is helpful.....one more question, I have long nails, will texting matter with this phone. I have found that some phones without distinctive push buttons are hard to use unless your actual fingertips touch the keys. By the way, I really love the samsung u740, just the numbers are so small I am sure 🙄 eventually I will not be able to see them.

i have long nails right now and am finding that when i push the the keys with my nails i can feel that i've actually pushed the key better than with my actual finger. i prefer to keep my nails on the shorter side though and will be trimming them soon, so i guess i'll find out if this is still the case. 😕
