possible software bug?

For other chocolate owners out there, Ive recently come across this problem.

When I go to delete "Sent" text messages from the outbox, either individually or by using the "erase all" feature, the phone will do one of three things:

1) Erase the msg as planned and everything is fine. (10% of the time)

2) Erase the msg, but in the list of "sent" messages, there will be a blank area in the list with only a "." in it. (if deleted individually, 60% of the time. otherwise, N/A)

3) The phone will flash off (showing the vcast screen), then back on, and end up at the main wallpaper screen. (90% of the time when using "erase all," 30% of the time if deleted individually)

So my question is...has anyone else had this problem? If no one ...

I didn't have this problem.

I do have some other pesky/buggy problems like shortcut keys not working... but I don't want to hijack your post. 😁

there is a version 03 software out for it now so depending on how early you got your chocolate go into phone info under settings and see what your s/w version ends in. anything less than 3 get it flashed.

Thanks. It is version 3 though.

It's the wierdest thing. If I set the down arrow to something like calendar, it works. But if I set it to either chat or news/info, it doesn't work. It worked once for news/info but only once.

yup, not surprised that is what we get for getting these things first of the assembly line. I have had software bugs with my 8000,8100, my Razr....Oh my god My Razr was a nightmare, becasue I got these models when they first arrived. The first chocolate I got was defective and i had to return it for another which has no issues. It sucks but i am sure more bugs will be found throughout the weeks, that is just how these things go 😢

i had this same issue with the shortcut key but think i figured it out. if its set to calender or tools it has no problem, but when set to news and info, i just keep my finger on the shortcut key for an extra second...and it works fine. im sure its not supposed to be this way but it has worked for me...give it a shot and let me know if that helps

If you just purchased your LG 8500 you have a 30day window where you can get a NEW (not refurbished) replacement phone at an Verizon Wireless Corporate store (not an authorized dealer-forget those guys...no warranties) if you continue to have software glitches. You must have all of your original packaging to do so. Your best bet so don't delay!

The new software they put on this phone sometimes comes with a bug. I talked to LG about this and they said that sometimes they download the software but it rarely comes with a bug, so my opinion is that the should of tested the new software before they sold this phone to verizon. The review also says that this software comes with a bug, so my question is why didn't they make this a good phone? I'm not saying that this is a bad phone, but is that besides making tight-cool phones they don't make them perfect. They try to put everything on (not just this phone but other phones too!) like an mp3-wma player, a camera,
and some other things (like the VX9800), but sometimes putting a lot of things on phones makes them slow and tiring.
