Info on MP3 Functionality in V3m
The V3m can play songs in MP3 or WMA format, and Windows Media Player 10 can be used to synchronize your existing Music Library with the phone.
WMP is free, and you do not need a subscription to the VCast Music service or the Music Essentials kit from Verizon to gain MP3 functionality.
Here are the steps needed to do this:
Connect your PC to the phone via a USB cable. Any standard mini-USB cable will work.
Once the two are connected, the phone should show up in Device Manager under the "Modems" category as "Motorola USB Modem."
On the V3m, go into the "Get Tunes & Tones" menu and select "Sync Music." The phone will now show up in Device Manager under "Windows Portable Devices." Mine shows up as a "Motorola V3c."

Thanks for the info...however, when my computer tries to load the V3c, it is unable to do so. I don't know if I need a driver? My phone shows up under other devices?

On one of my machines, a laptop, it wont show at all and the phone states unauthorized charger.
On my home machine, windows sees the device, but WMP locks up when it tries to sync.

I'm going to have to check later on my desktop. My laptop is giving me the problem. In fact, it doesn't always allow it to charge either....frustrating....my E815 was so much easier (now if I could have by brother in law give it back...).

you mentioned the e815 - were you able to get wma files to play on the e815? I have tried--it will only play mp3's for me! any advise would be appreciated! ðŸ¤

I received the RAZR v3m last week, and I have the same exact problem. I have tried relentlessly to sync the phone to my computer in every way possible. I called Verizon 4 or 5 times and spoke with a different technician each time and they could not help. I bought the music essentials pack because the Verizon guy told me I needed the new drivers for the phone to work with my computer. When I connect the phone to the computer, it shows up under other devices and says that it can not install the hardware because it can not find the necessary software.
I then bought a Memory card reader and that synced with WMP 10, but when I put the micro SD card in the phone it can not play any of the songs.

Do you have another device which reads sd cards, like a printer or an mp3 player. If so you can insert the micro sd card that came with the phone into the adapter that it comes with then into one of those devices, connect the device up with your computer, then open up windows explore (go to start button then right click and open up explore, then drag and drop files onto the disk then pop the micro sd back into your phone and voila...that's the way I did it anyway.
