Size limit or Time limit on ringtones off of MSD card?!@#?

I bought this phone as a media device, granted it's great if you want to sink more money into say bluetooth headphones that actually fit into the headphone jack hole (since its not 1/8" stereo) but my BIGGEST GRIPE is the fact that I have 2139847239847293482379284 mp3s and I can't use a single one as a ringtone. Is there a 30 second rule or anything? Note, there is NO information about this in the manual or on cingular's website.

Anyone know a way around this?

Thanks in advance.

That URL has incorrect information. I have all my ringtones at less than 30 seconds (most at 15 seconds) yet most of them will still not play. Is there also a filesize limitation and if so, WHY!@?# and WHATS!@?# the point of putting in a microsd slot if you cant use the bloody thing....

THe information in the URL is correct. There seems to be a 600-700 K limit to the size of the MP3 ringtone. If your short ringtones are larger than that, you are either using an insanely high bitrate (why would you want a 320kbps mp3 as a ringtone that plays on lousy micro-speakers?), or you are using an insanely crappy MP3 encoder.

For reference, on my phone, a 30 second ringtone, encoded at 128kbps, is about 470K.

I just got this phone and it took 3 weeks and several phone calls to both cingular and LG to find out that this phone does not come with the capability of setting downloaded ring tones as caller ID. Did any one else have this problem? Well, now I understand that you can use the mp3 as a ring tone ID (of course when you call LG they say that you can't use mp3 as a ring tone) It really burns me up when people who work for a company do not know there own product...anyway, now that I have my songs on my phone, the message I get is that it is too large to set as a ring tone. So my question is, how do you make the mp3 song only 30 seconds? Is this done on the phone or on your computer before you load it onto your phone. Please help, this has alrea...

I personally use Adobe Audition to edit/crop/whatnot MP3s to 29.97 seconds. This however does not solve the issue as I've come to see. There is a filesize limitation apparently that i can't find info about...
