You can just pick up an adapter kit at Radio shack or Walmart for a few bucks.

Here's a link

Note the two rings on your link, and the three rings on mine. They are not the same...

True, however I can't remember the model number, but there is a kit at Walmart you can buy that comes with the 3.5 to 2.5 mm as well as the standard 3.5 to larger stero plug and a coiled cord extension. It was 9 bucks. I've been using the headset that I got with the Cingular 8125 though.

Thank you very much for this information. Fortunately, I was too busy to buy the parts (for assembly) yet. I'll just buy this converter instead.

last time i checked, this phone has a 2.5mm port.

you'd need one that converts the 2.5mm to 3.5mm...

not 3.5 to 2.5

and no it's nto the same thing..

the 2.5 end plugs into the phone.. and turns it into a 3.5mm headjack.. which lets you use standard headphones like for the ipod or cd players..

that's what you need..

don't order that one..

get this one

The one in your link will not work with the CU500. It has only a two-ring (aka 3-pin) 2.5mm plug. You need a 3-ring (aka 4-pin) plug, because you need to cover left, right, and microphone. The one here has a 3-ring 2.5mm plug, and converts it to a regular 3.5mm jack:

From the description: "Allows the use of a standard stereo headset (3.5mm or 1/8") to be used with all Motorola 2.5mm 4 pin compatible cell phones."

Please be more careful next time before you post incorrect information to the board.

Yesterday I received the 2.5mm (male) to 3.5mm (female) adaptor that vdp found at cellphonemall.net. And. . . it works GREAT!!! I can now plug a standard headset into my phone and listen to music in STEREO. The left/right channels work - I tested it with the LG sample that came with the phone, as the "LG Electronics" sound switches back and forth between left and right.

Thanks vdp!!

Cingular does carry a converter!! it's $4.99 - I bought mine on Sunday morning and I was so friggin' happy!!

... it's for the ROKR phone - but it works the same way.

... note of caution ... get some quality earbuds with VOLUME CONTROL ... the music doesn't get loud through the earphones ...

... word of advice.
