Good phone, but...

Been playing with the phone for only a day now, I do like it, but there are some issues. (I am coming from a Sanyo 8300).

-No external indicator light that you have new voicemail/text message on phone unless you "power on" the screen by hitting a button or opening the phone. (Sanyo has a flashing indicator led on front) Biggest problem for me so far....

-The sound played when a new voicemail/text message is delivered is played only once. No setting to make it repeat every min or so until you check it(like on Sanyo).

-When using a network application, no option to Always Allow Application Network Access or something. Have to hit Allow everytime.

My additions and comments:

- No way to have phone vibrate when you receive a text message. Major problem for me when I'm at a bar looking to meet up with my peeps. The phone can vibrate when receiving a call, however.

>>>-No external indicator light that you have new voicemail/text
I found this to be annoying too.

>>>-The sound played when a new voicemail/text message is delivered is played only once.
My former Moto had this feature too, and I miss it.

when the ring volume is changed to vibrate, the phone will also vibrate when a message is received.

Hmm. I checked this out. "Volume changed to vibrate" means silent mode. No call ring, no sms alert.

For an SMS, I have a choice of an (1) alert sound but no vibrate; or (2) vibrate but no sound on the phone whasoever.

But there is no way of getting alert sound AND vibrate at the same time for a message. What a shame.

Maybe I'm just too used to all the features of the Motorola. I'm spoiled by Motos.

And, I'm still pi**ed that I don't get 3G at my house in Washington, DC.

-Cant assign MP3s for Message Alerts. Only the pre-packaged default sounds.

Almost all these issues could be easily fixed with a software update, but I doubt we will ever see one. Both the Sanyo 8100 and 8200 had the software update feature, but they never made any updates. Maybe LG/Cinuglar will do it better... 😕
