LG VX-8300
Reception questions-- hearing myself in the phone when I talk
I got the vx8300 a couple of days ago. The only thing that I'm not sure of is the fact is that you can hear yourself in the phone when you speak. I don't know if I really like this. Is there a way to turn this off? Maybe I'll get used to it. I did a quick search trying to figure out why this is but didn't see a really good answer. What is the reasoning behind this? Its a great phone btw!
no you don't need to swap it for a new one, the 8300's are supposed to do that LG made it like this to try and sound more like a land line telephone and personally I like it, it is helpful if you are in a noisy environment as well.
I suppose if it really bugs you take it back but a lot of new phones will be doing this so my advice is learn to like it and get used to it.
Thanks!

😕 say what, mine doesn't do that 😕
All landline phones do it.
It is designed to make the user speak more naturally.
It does not help in a noisy environment because that background sound would also be picked up by the phone.
My LG VX 7000 had the "silent feature" and It took a while to get used to it.
Then I got the RAZR and liked the sidetone and I am glad the LG does it now.
Not a design flaw but built as designed.
Hope that helps.
