Reception questions-- hearing myself in the phone when I talk

Ok,

I got the vx8300 a couple of days ago. The only thing that I'm not sure of is the fact is that you can hear yourself in the phone when you speak. I don't know if I really like this. Is there a way to turn this off? Maybe I'll get used to it. I did a quick search trying to figure out why this is but didn't see a really good answer. What is the reasoning behind this? Its a great phone btw!

I would swap it out with another one, it should not do that. 🙂

PLEASE EVERYONE--- if you don't know the answer to a question DO NOT ANSWER IT!
no you don't need to swap it for a new one, the 8300's are supposed to do that LG made it like this to try and sound more like a land line telephone and personally I like it, it is helpful if you are in a noisy environment as well.
I suppose if it really bugs you take it back but a lot of new phones will be doing this so my advice is learn to like it and get used to it.

Unless I find something else I have issues with I'm probably going to keep the phone. I just am a little confused about that feature. Why would hearing yourself help you in a noisy environment?

Thanks!

As it was stated later in the posts, this phone is suppose to allow u to hear yourself. The 8100 didnt do it and kinda threw me off when i first purchased it, this is actually something i do like about the 8300. Do not return the phone because of something the manufacturer has added on purpose or you will be angry when the next one does the samething.

You are correct about hearing yourself. The RAZR does it also and it is called "sidetone".
All landline phones do it.
It is designed to make the user speak more naturally.
It does not help in a noisy environment because that background sound would also be picked up by the phone.
My LG VX 7000 had the "silent feature" and It took a while to get used to it.
Then I got the RAZR and liked the sidetone and I am glad the LG does it now.
Not a design flaw but built as designed.
Hope that helps.
