Crackly reception, anyone?

I just got my new LG VX8300 phone from Verizon on Saturday. I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with crackly reception. My husband bought the Motorola e815 and he called me on my phone and the reception was pretty fuzzy. I called from my cell to our home phone and it was just as fuzzy. Has anyone else had this problem? Or could it just be that particular phone that I received?

Thank you! 🙂

Read cmv96's June 13 review. LG has too many problems with poor audio and poor RF. Like him, I also had a VX-4400 and had poor reception/transmission and dropped calls. There are too many comments on the Forum to ignore. I switched to Motorola because RF is what a phone is all about, not ringtones and playing music. LG will have to get its act together before I go back to them.

LG is a great phone, i switched from Moto years ago when i went to the LG 6000, before that i had one of the best phones ever and that was the moto startac! Yes i miss that flip..

I have 1 bar on my LG in most any place and i never drop calls, never hear static, never have any cut outs or anything bad.. the bars just dont mean much anymore.. hell i dont even look at the bars anymore. I am in a non EVDO area also so i only have 4 bars max but i usually only see 1 or 2..

And I have had an LG VX4400 for two and a half years and like it a lot. Reception and performance has been better than most, and I will be upgrading to the LX8300 in a couple of days.

Hooray for LG!

Thanks everyone for your replies!! It appears to be working now, with only a little crackling once in a while. I think I'll still return it and try another one. I'm still within my "15 days". I did find out that I have to return it to the store we bought it from, which totally stinks because the store is an hour away. There is a Verizon store in the town I work in. I didn't get the phone there because they are sooooo slow and the day I got the phone, there was like a 2-hour wait. I have a 21-month-old son and he wasn't going to behave for that long! 😁

I was also supposed to receive my music download package yesterday and it has yet to arrive.

Where did you hear that you had to take it back to the same store you purchased it from? I've bought phones and returned them at different locations many times, even exchanged phones at the store that I bought online or through CS. As long as it's a corporate store it shouldn't matter. The only reason you would have to take it back to the same store is if that was the only store in your area that is currently selling/stocking the 8300.

I called *611 and the Verizon lady told me I had to take it back to where I bought it from. We've returned it and it works great. I haven't had a problem with any reception. You know anyother crappy thing, though? I went to verizonwireless.com to download some ringtones and the site said that the 8300 isn't currently available for ringtones from their site. That's just odd to me. Oh, well. Anyone have any good suggestions for where to go for good ringtones?

If you were trying to get them from the Verizon site, then I assume you don't mind paying for them. If that is indeed the case, you can get them right from your phone under Get It Now-Get New Ringtones.

Well I just retired my Motorola RAZR in favor of the 8300 and the RF has been infinitely better than the RAZR ever had.
Areas where the RAZR would drop calls have now been transformed into 3 bar zones so I am dropping fewer calls now.
So I guess LG has gotten their act together already.
Alrighty now let's move on now PassiveagressivePaul. 😲

It's funny, but since I traded in my 8300 for the new RAZR v3m, my reception has been INFINITELY better than I ever had with the 8300. Same location - totally different RF. Maybe I got a bad 8300, but my LG 4400 had the same RF and volume problems.
I really didn't care one way or the other which phone I ended up with, I was just looking for the best voice quality PERIOD and, after 4 days, I've been absolutely blown away by the landline like quality of the v3m.
