Why no QVGA?

The only phone that had QVGA was the Audiovox/Toshiba 9950.

Now the new Samsung A990 will also have QVGA display.

QVGA

Also known as: Quarter VGA, Quarter Video Graphics Array

QVGA (Quarter Video Graphics Array) is a standard for displays and cameras that measures 320 pixels wide by 240 pixels high. Although QVGA is generally only found on Series 80 handsets and some high-end Series 60 phones, it is a very modest resolution for a digital camera, and at a tiny 0.08 megapixels, QVGA picture quality - although better than CIF - won’t be particularly good.

QVGA is however an excellent resolution to use for sending digital pictures via MMS or e-mail, as the image files will be small in bytes - saving on bandwidth - but easily big enough in pixels for enjoyable viewing on another handset.

Simply put, QVGA has 320X240 Pixels (76800 total pixels) on the display where VX8300 has 220X176 Pixels (38720 total pixels).
The QVGA has twice the pixels, which would make images and text look better.

Ah okay. Verizon needs more phones with QVGA. The A990 should do it. What bothers me is that it's a Samsung ☹️ But Samsungs typically perform quite well on the Verizon network so we'll see what happens.
