Anyone using a 2GB mini SD card in their Q?

Hi,

In the Preview for the Motorola Capri,

Like all phones currently on the market, this phone has a flaw that prevents it from fully supporting 2 GB memory cards (like the SanDisk card shown above). Like most current phones, you can use a 2 GB card if you format it in the phone, but then the card only works as a 1 GB card.

So, I wondered if anyone was currently using a 2GB card in their Q? The difference would be the MS software.

Thanks.

I am using a 2gb mini sd card and it works fine. I bought it for $39 on amazon.

bricks...can you down load info to the SD card with your home machine and then insert the card to your Q and access it on the fly as you work thru your daily events?

I bought one from Flash-Memory-store.com and when I first put it in the Q it showed 2 Gig. I was able to transfer files from internal memory but I had to take it out to load some other files. (I haven't been able to get ActiveSync to work) When I reinserted it back in the Q, the Q said it needed to be formatted. Now it registers only as one Gig. I don't know if it's the phone or the card but I'm sending it back. It's a no name brand and it was supposed to be a SanDisk.

That's pretty much what happened when I tried a 2 GB card in the Capri. Like the Capri, the Q can only support 1 GB of a 2 GB card.

I use a 2gb card I bought off of amazon and it works fine. All 2gb are being supported as I currently have 1.33 gb of video stored.

If you go to check the free memory on the card, are all of the numbers correctly reported?

If you format the card, is it formatted at 1 or 2 GB?

If there is a problem with either of the above, then the 2 GB card is not fully supported.

You may run into file errors at any time. Files might disappear or become corrupted. Certain files might be accessible from some programs but not others. You might experience random crashes because of it. It's a risk that I wouldn't recommend.

You may be right. But, I have not experienced any of the above problems. The memory manager shows card storage at 1.90 gb which 1.65gb are being used with no issues. I am using a OEM card for what it is worth.

Hmm - interesting! Thanks for sharing.

I would be curious what would happen if you formatted the card. I'm guessing it would only format 1 GB. Still - if you can use 2 GB the way you are, that's great.

I use a 2G card every day. There are no issues using it with the Q.
