Here are the software choices/trials I am currently considering:

PDANET
- usb/bluetooth connect your notebook
- works great

Smartphone Notes
- note function works with active sync
- Easy to use and context functions for calling and emailing
- Need one that will sync wirelessly
- Need one that filter the note list whe you type

Powertasks
- unlocks many of the outlook features
- Very nice program
- I have selected this in place of oxios todo list (the insert contact functions much better)

Power Calendar
- will be ready for WM5 Smartphoe soon and works well with Power Task. Until them I am using Papyrus
- I will replace Papyrus with Power Calendar when it is ready

Papyrus
- Displays calendar and tasks on a daily or ...

Also Agile Messenger is great there is a free download. Just make sure Pock Internet Explorer is running first or this program will not know it is connected to the internet.

I've attached my Slingbox to my Motorola Q, and I've got to tell you...it works great! Cable television with DVR practically anywhere. It's one of those apps where you show your friends and they immediately want one!

How difficult is this to implement? Does the slingbox come with the wireless connection or do you have to buy that separately? What do you need on your Q to do this? I would really like to do this but could see it not working so well for me.

Take a look at this page from Slingbox: http://www.slingmedia.com/us/

Do you have experience setting up a home network? If so, it's a snap. Plug your cable TV coax into the Slingbox (or your digital tuner/DVR), plug the other end into your router, configure the software and router and that's all. It was up and running in 20 minutes. (you must have good upload bandwidth for it to work right).

Sync your Q to your desk or laptop, go to the Slingbox site and select "auto configure" and it sets up the Q for your. It can't be easier.

My buddy and I just finished watching both World Cup games here at work on ESPN2 on my Q. What a gas!

There aren't too many killer apps out there anymore; this is one of them. Cable TV wherever you can get...

Looking at the website you provided, I'm at the point where I NEED this set up. But I live in Fargo, North Dakota and we do not have an EVDO network, I believe we have the National Access network. Will this product still work for me? I was searching the Slingbox website and couldn't find the answer, seems as though everyone there was using an EVDO network.

The website says anything upwards of 120 kpbs will work and cites EVDO, UMTS, Wi-Fi or bluetooth as technologies that are supported. I just don't know the cellular side well enough to recommend using it with the National Access Network you speak of.

If you do happen to make this work, be sure to buy one of the unlimited download packages offered like the one through Verizon. I can imagine this sucks up some bandwidth, and I'd sure hate to use Slingbox on a "pay by byte" basis.

Do you have to have a wireless router in your home?

I have a DVR supplied from Comcast cable, i'm assuming it can be any DVR not just Tivo.

How does the video go out onto the vzw network? Is it transferring over the net? wireless?

I run the Comcast cable DVR too and it works fine. Slingbox recommends direct connecting your Slingbox to your router with an ethernet cable or using their Slinglink, which supplies more bandwidth than most wireless systems. Slinglink costs $100 at Best Buy. You can take a look here: http://www.slingmedia.com/us/slinglink/

SlingLink™

A SlingLink™ is a convenient way to connect your Slingbox to the Internet. If you’re like most people, you don’t have an ethernet jack right next to your television. Rather than running long wires all around your house, or having an expensive technician re-wire your home, you can just purchase a pair of SlingLink adapters.

Like an extension cord for the Internet, the SlingLink uses your home’s...

Slingbox comes with an IR control that sits in front of my Comcast digital receiver/DRV. I can control it just like I do from my easy chair. Of course, if I'm on the road and the wife is watching something, she's forced to watch what I am (uh huh, right : )

I missed the second part of your question, Paul. The video is uploaded through my router to my cable modem and into the internet. Slingbox uses a proprietary coding system to allow only one properly configured computer or smartphone to receive the stream. (I've tried to get the signal on both my laptop and my Q, the second unit logs into an error. Make sure your home internet system will support fast upload streams, I run Comcast cable and there's been no problem. Best Buy had Slingbox at $200 last week, $100 for the wireless connector.

I just switched from the Palm OS Treo, so I haven't used this service my Q yet, but I enjoy Avantgo. It allows you to sync online news and Web sites such as NY Times, CNET, Space.com for business or personal interests. If you travel much, it's really nice to have your favorite news and articles on your phone.
