v710 for Q

For those of you who are part of the V710 settlement, are any of you concerned about not meeting the May 30 deadline to return your V710? I believe all of us here are trying to wait patiently for the Q, but that doesn't leave much time to return our old phone, especially with Monday, May 29 being a holiday.

THe Q is supposed to be available online the 24th of May. It won't be in the stores in time to swap for the V710.

If you can't buy it online by the 24th, buy another PDA, then use the 15 day exchange to swap the online purchase at the store.

I honestly don't see V710 settlement customers getting the Q in time. All due to the fact that i don't believe the 15 WFG applies to the V710 settlement customers. I'll be honest, i don't have a clue what the fine print of this lawsuit because customer service has been advised to stay away from any questions, comments, and the settlement all together.

It kind of sucks that we're almost forced to buy a phone that we don't necessarily want, just so that we can meet the guidelines of a settlement that stems from misleading information in the first place.

Sorry Nitefury. I didn't understand your post. Are you saying that the 15 day return period works for us too? What does "wfg" stand for?

When you order your new phone through the v710exchange website it informs you that you DO have the 15 day exchange. It takes 2-5 business days for your phone to arrive and 2 days to shop your phone back. As of today, May 19, there are only 7 business days left. If they don't receive your phone by the 31st, you will not receive your refund. At this point, I wouldn't chance waiting any longer. You still have the 15 day exchange policy. Although, I will be checking out the Q thoroughly in the store to make sure I like it, because you can only do the exchange once. Verizon really screwed us with this deal. I knew I should have chosen the contract cancelling option.

Am I missing something...my settlement letter says "You must return the accompanying form along with the Motorola V710 phone and accessories by June 13, 2006."

What is all the talk about May 31st being the deadline for returning the phone?

There were 2 mailings.
Those who got the first mailing had a May 31 deadline.
Those in the 2nd mailing have a June 13 deadline.

Who knew those 2 weeks would make such a difference!

FYI - there is no way the May 31 people will make it. My B2B rep told me he will get me one next week. He also told me B2C customers won't be able to get one until June b/c B2B is going first.

I'm going to send mine in for the June 13 deadline and just hope for the best.
I don't see how they can force one group of customers to get a phone they don't want just because they sent their letters out first.

That helps to explain the date difference.

Will the Q actually be offered through the Verizon V710 exchange site? My assumption was that I would need to buy whatever replacement phone through their special V710 exchange site. Can I just go buy it at my local Verizon store?

How exactly did Verizon screw you with this deal? You dont expect them to just let you keep the phone forever until you find something better do you? Oh yeah.. I hate the Motorola v710 soooo much... but I can live with it until the world's ultimate phone comes out...
C'mon be an adult here... they gave you the option to cancel or pick a new phone... what would you have picked if there was no Q coming out?
Get over it... Verizon gave you your options... they are giving you a good deal on a phone... and you are complaining about it... they did not screw you with this deal... Keep in mind that Verizon was not court ordered to do this, they did it to keep out of litigation because they didnt want to spend the money win or lose... now take ...

I'll tell you how Verizon screwed us with this deal. They didn't spell out the details of the option that really matter when presenting us with our choice. The way I had understood the option, I was to get the money I had paid for the v710 back and I would be able to purchase a new phone at a new contract rate. This is MUCH different than getting money back for what you pay for a new phone up to the what you paid for the v710. I paid for the v710 because I thought I would have bluetooth. We didn't get bluetooth. We got a butchered version of bluetooth. Since I can't get real bluetooth for Verizon I wouldn't necessarily want to spend $200+ on a phone. But I should get the money back that I paid for the v710. They lied to us and they deserved ...

You typed my message for me: Well said! They screwed us V710 users AGAIN. It looks like none of the V710 users will be able to get a "Q" in time, and the only phone that I'd exchange for my crippled V710 --the E815-- is even more crippled, and goes for 1/6 of what I paid for the V710!

I too had NO IDEA that you had to cancel your service with Verizon to actually get back your money for the V710.

Gotta hand it to them though, because they sure used the legal system to their own ends. Only the lawyers will get anything out of this settlement, like 5 MILLION dollars apiece.

I honestly used to LIKE Verizon. Now I'm embarrassed to admit that. They are pond scum, but without the pleasant green color.

Listen, I'm no big fan of Verizon's Bluetooth scheme, but at the end of the day, you can hardly expect a full reimbursement for you phone at this point.

First off, you participated in a class action law suit - you did not have to hire a lawyer, did not have to go to court, and did not have to prove a thing. Class actions are not the best vehicle for making "victims" whole; they are for making a large amount of people “better off” and shame on anyone who piggy backed this thing without reading the settlement options carefully.

Secondly, if you were a regular on this website at the time the v710 was coming out (many of us were), you probably knew the phone had crippled Bluetooth from the get go. If this is the case you don't even nece...

It won't; most of the new phones need to be purchased by 5/30/2006 and the old V710 returned by that date. You need to rely on this language at the V710Exchange site:

If the phone you are looking for is not listed, you may alternatively purchase your replacement phone and any accessories by logging in to My Account on our website at www.VerizonWireless.com. If you have not previously enrolled in My Account, you will need to register and establi

You are right on that i didn't even read that you can pick it up in the store and return it. Though since i'm one of the west coasters that got there package late we have til the 14th or so of june to reply with our stuff. I wouldn't be suprised though that its on the exchange website on the 31st as well. you can see that the 700p is on the web site and it just came out today.

they told me yes at store --

The answer we gave you is based on the information provided to you by Verizon on the exchange website. The website states that if the phone you wish to purchase is not available you may purchase the phone through My Account or through a Verizon Wireless retail store. This is the information we have.

Thank You,

Settlement Administrator
