If you don't need web or e-mail- do you still need Unlimited Data Plan?

I already have a blackberry for work, but I hate using it as a phone.

I'm due for a phone replacement and don't really care if I have e-mail capability on this phone. I more or less just like the form factor, and the ability to use the QWERTY keyboard for text messages (I hate using T9 on normal phones).

My question is:
Am I REQUIRED to get the unlimited data plan with this phone? Or can I just keep a normal voice plan and use it for voice and text messages (without e-mail or web features) Will Verizon allow that? Also - I have the Web 2.0 package on my current phone for $7.99 - would that enable web on this phone?

Thanks.

You can ask to have National Access Blocked on the Q phone, but not on the Blackberry as it has to have a data plan... txt messaging will still work, but all data, including pix msging, will not... but at least you won't have to pay for a data plan...

You can also choose the pay-as-you-go data plan that will still allow you to send pix msg and stuff but when you get on the web and connect to your email you will be charged 1.5 cents per kb. It can be expensive, now you mobile web thing will not work on this phone, the only way you can get on the web is by using the data package or wi-fi. There are two data packages, unlimited for 44.99, and 10mb for 24.99, I suggest at least trying the 24.99 plan to see if you would use the data plan then if you don't convert to the pay-as-you-go.
Good Luck 🙂

You can also choose the pay-as-you-go data plan that will still allow you to send pix msg and stuff but when you get on the web and connect to your email you will be charged 1.5 cents per kb. There is no monthly charge for this unless you use the email or web service.
