question. the v3i and the v3m are essentially the same phone, right? right? ok, so then why is verizon offering the v3m for $70, and why are we talking about cingular offering the v3i for $200? and why does shipping cost $100 on ebay to ship from california to new york?

Essentially the same phone? Hmm, I can think of several differences right off the top of my head:

* The v3i actually supports useful Bluetooth functionality, like transfer of pics/movies/music/ringtones without having to cough up $ to Verizon every time. (Yes, I'm a former v710 owner and a former Verizon customer.)

* The v3i supports J2ME, so you can get all kinds of Java-based applications and games (many of them free) without having to "Get It Now" (or whatever).

* The v3i is supports phone book and calendar sync via iSync. For both of us Mac users who care. 😛

* The v3i is a GSM phone, meaning that when you go to Europe, it still works. And if you buy an unlocked one, you can choose between multiple carriers, many of whom ...
