No it doesn't. You can get Agile Messenger though and it will work with AIM, Yahoo, Google Talk, ICQ, and XMPP.

The T Mobile MDA comes with AIM as well as yahoo, ICQ and MSN

You need an internet connection for the tmobile mda to connect to the instant messengers. Watch out though, if you do connect, it still charges an SMS charge for each message ☹️
