voice command type of question

does this phone have an announce option... such as, "announce + ring" so that when someone calls you, it will say "call from Tom" or "call from 555-1212" then ring?

This would be helpful for having the phone holstered and using bluetooth, so you still know whos calling without unholstering.

can it do it???

I have Microsoft Voice Command and it will announce the caller and use the ringtone. It should work for what you need. It is a pretty sweet program as well. I highly suggest trying it.

you can record a audio clip of what you want to here, save it and use it for a ring tone ...."joe is calling" etc. I found this out just messing around one day.

🙂 Thanks for the input...

after reading your reply; i started researching the MS voice command, and found some threads on howard forums that said once you install the MS voice command, your Bluetooth Headset still pulls up the 8125's default voice dialer and not the new MS voice command....
Has anyone using the MS version found a simple fix for this???????????

I don't have a headset but I would think that you can do it. How do you dial using your headset? Do you just push a button on the headset or on the device to start the voice dialing?

Yes you can use MS Voice Command over Bluetooth by making the following change in the registry:
From the HoFo T-Mobile MDA FAQ:
goto "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand \Path". Change the default value from "\Windows\SDDialer.exe" to "\Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe".

There's a few registry editors available for PPC.

I use Total Commander. Along with being a superior file explorer to MS File Explorerer, it has a built-in Registry Editor as well as a nice assortment of advanced functions like ZIP archiver. It's nice and compact, and best of all: It's Freeware!! 😎
