A bit confused about ringtones

Alright so I'm trying to decide between this and a RAZR and I know what the determining point will be.

If I bought this phone and simply moved songs over to it, NOT via iTunes, just to the phone, could I use them as ringtones? I mean, can I use the microSD card in there to store mp3s, but not use them in iTunes, but only use them for ringtones?

This is a huge point for me because I don't need to use this for iTunes as I already have an iPod, I just want full song ringtones if possible.

Thanks for the help.

Okay, as with most phones this will work but is not smart...

This phone can do what you are suggesting but to set it as a ringtone you would have to move it to the phone..

And as you know, The phone has 5 mb of memory, so it would be universally stupid to use a full song as a ringtone. (I've tried so don't feel so bad).

You can cut 30 second clips of songs and get a lot more of the ringtones on your phone.. But a full song would fill your phones memory too easily..

It's the same with a RAZR too.. Only 5mb of memory.

Other than that.. A couple of our (Motorola) new phones will hav emore memory.. But the onboard in usually the same..

Sorry man,

I hope that this helped.

Thank you very much. This is what I have figured. I've been hoping for so long for Cingular to carry a phone with expandable memory so I can do this but they haven't yet.

Times like this make me jealous of my friend's v710 on verizon, haha.

Thanks a bunch again.
